Tribute Concert Promoters Fail to Sway Jackson Fan Clubs

The promoters of a Michael Jackson tribute concert tried to dispel the
concerns of fan clubs Monday during a series of international conference
calls on Wednesday, but leaders of some large groups said afterwards they
were still opposed to the event.

For weeks, fan clubs have criticized the promoters for staging the “Michael
Forever” concert in Wales on Oct. 8, around the same time as the involuntary
manslaughter trial in California of Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician who was
caring for Mr. Jackson when he died in June 2009. Several fan clubs have
criticized the promoters for not releasing details about how much money from
the concert’s proceeds will go to two charities that Mr. Jackson had
supported during his life. Many have also said the promoters should have
reached an agreement with Mr. Jackson’s estate before staging the concert.
“In all honesty, they haven’t answered any of my questions,” said Gary
Taylor, the president of the Micheal Jackson Community in Britain, which has
80,000 registered members. “Where is the money going? Who is benefiting?”
“They just don’t want to listen to what we have to say,” he added.

數周以來 歌迷質疑主辦單位的演唱會辦在10/8號 剛好是Murray案子審理期間 同時歌迷
也質疑 主辦單位沒有指出到底有多少錢是確實捐給慈善機構的 同時歌迷表示主辦單位
應該要在很早之前就要和遺產公司達成協議 MJJC的主事者Gary Taylor表示 他們根本沒有
回答任何一個我所提出的問題(MJJC有達八萬名成員) 錢到底去哪了? 誰是受益人?
MJJC主事者表示: 他們就是不想聽我們要說什麼

Juliette Harris, a spokeswoman for the promoter, Global Live Events, said the
goal of the calls was to open a dialogue with the fan clubs and counter some
false reports on fan Web sites, among them the charge that none of the ticket
proceeds would go to charity and that the tickets could not be refunded. “We
are not trying to persuade people or change their minds,” she said. “Our
goal is to say ‘Here are the facts.’”

演唱會主辦單位發言人表示 這些電話 是要跟歌迷俱樂部聯繫 聲明很多報導都是錯誤的
其中包括說沒有票錢是進到慈善單位這部份 還有不能退票這部份
(這兩部份不都是他們之前網站上自己寫的嗎? 哈哈 自打嘴巴)
他們表示 我們並不是要說服人們改變他們的想訪 我們是要說出事實 (XDDDD)

The opposition of the major fan club groups presents a problem for the
promoter, Chris Hunt, a British filmmaker who formed Global Live Events this
spring to put on the show. The fan clubs wield influence with many of the
people most likely to buy tickets to the events. Mr. Hunt did not take
questions from the heads of fan clubs Wednesday. Instead Global Live was
represented during the calls by another executive, Andy Picheta.

歌迷俱樂部的疑問是給演唱會主辦單位主辦人 Christ Hunt 他在今年春天才創立了這個
機構來主辦這個演出 歌迷俱樂部對很多人是否買票有很大的影響力 Hunt並沒有親自出面

The concert has divided the Jackson family. Janet Jackson and Jermaine
Jackson – who have had the most successful solo careers – are boycotting
the event, along with their brother Randy Jackson, because it conflicts with
the trial. La Toya Jackson and three other siblings – Tito, Marlon and
Jackie — are planning to attend and may perform.

這場演出 造成了J家的分化 Janet Jermaine和Randy都反對這場演出 因為跟Murray案件

The executors of Michael Jackson’s estate, which is not controlled by any of
the siblings, have also raised questions about the charitable intentions of
the promoters. They have made it plain the promoters may not use Mr. Jackson’
s image, name or other intellectual property to sell the concert.

MJ的遺產並不受控於任何兄弟姐妹 遺產執行人同樣提出對主辦單位的質疑 並且很清楚

Wesley Noorhoff, the president of the Legendary Michael Jackson Fan
Association in the Netherlands, which has 25,000 members, said the
conversation with Global Live officials had not swayed him. Holding the
concert during the trial and excluding the estate from the project still
bothered his members, he said.

荷蘭的歌迷俱樂部Legenday Michael Jackson Fan Association 有兩萬五千名成員
主事者表示 主辦單位完全沒有撼動他的決定 他表示這個在案件期間的演唱會 並且沒有
得到遺產公司的同意讓很多歌迷困擾

“We are still not behind the concert,” he said after the telephone call. “
The biggest problems we have are the timing and not working with the Michael
Jackson estate and not getting all the Jacksons onboard.”

歌迷表示 我們還是不支持這個演唱會 最大的問題是舉辦時間 還有他們沒和遺產公司
合作 而且沒有所有的J家人支持

Legendary Michael Jackson FA was just in a conference call with Global Live
Events about the Forever Michael Tribute Concert which is scheduled for
October 8th 2011. We spoke with Andy Picheta who is the Live Event Director.
The call lasted for about 15 minutes. Because this is about Michael and his
fans we are sharing the information we got from the phone call with you here.

Picheta explained that the selection of KISS was not discussed with the
Jackson family. Also they did not research it enough and were just happy to
book the act since they were told Michael was very fond of them. Now,
especially because of the recent comments made by Simmons, they are happy
that they have been removed from the line-up. GLE hopes that this shows to
the fans that they do care.

Why contact the fanclubs now?

關於為何現在連絡歌迷俱樂部

We were contacted this week by GLE for this conference call. We asked them
why now? Why not in the early stages of setting up the tribute concert?
Picheta explained that they have done many concerts and tributes. Fans are
always part of it but normally a small part. With Michael Jackson it’s
totally different. They say they didn’t realize that. When they could do
this all over again, they would definitely contact the fanclubs in the early
stages.

他們說他們辦過很多演唱會和致敬 歌迷參與的部分都很少 但MJ的歌迷就不一樣 他們
不了解 如果事情能重來 他們會一開始就跟歌迷連絡

Picheta also comments that ‘they’ thought organizing a tribute concert for
Michael could only be a good thing.

Timing issue

關於時間點

We asked Picheta why the concert was not scheduled for June 25th or August
29th. Now, the concert is badly timed with the trial against Conrad Murray.
Picheta explained that they wanted to do the show on one of these dates but
that it came with practical issues like artist booking and vanue availability.

他們表示 為何不在MJ生日或忌日的原因是有技術性困難 因為要訂藝人和場地
(結果到底訂到了哪些他們所謂的"GLAXY INTERNATIONAL Star???? 人都訂去哪了?)

So why on October 8th? According to Picheta this is one day different from
the start of Michael’s solo career. It was the release of Michael’s first
solo single Got To Be There on October 7th 1971 that marked the official
launch of his solo career. 2011 marks the 40th anniversary of his solo career.

在10/8號是因為 MJ第一首單飛的單曲 Got to be there是在10/7號1971年發行 象徵
他的單飛事業 (XD 那為啥不在10/7號) 而2011年是他單飛40週年紀念
(虧他們掰的出)

Ticket pricing

關於票價

According to Picheta the ticket pricing is normal for concerts this big in
the UK. He named the recent Take That concert as example. Tickets of Take
That varied from ￡ 55 upto ￡ 145. Ticket pricing for this concert start at
￡ 56. About 2/3 of the audience is able to buy tickets below ￡ 100.

他們說 這個票價對於這樣大的演唱會 在UK是正常的 他說接招的演唱 票價是55-145英鎊
而這場票價最便宜是56
(MJ的TII演唱會也辦在UK 請問他有收這麼貴嗎????)

Charities

關於慈善捐款

Picheta insures that GLE has made a profit share agreement with two
charities; Aids LA and the Prince’s Trust. The Prince’s Trust because
Michael did a benefit concert for that charity in 1988. They get a share of
the profit of ticket sales and TV broadcasting. Picheta insures us that both
charities are happy with the agreement.

他們會從票價和電視轉播分紅 還說兩個機構都很高興

Guaranteed performances

包證藝人都會出席表演部份

Picheta explained that fans are protected by the UK law. For example. If
someone expects to see Ne-Yo and he wasn’t there they can get a full refund
of their ticket. The UK law is very clear about this and protects consumers
for this.

他們表示 歌迷會收到英國法律保護 舉例 如果你是要去看Ne-Yo而他沒出現 你就會得到退
款 UK法律很清楚

Estate of Michael Jackson

關於MJ遺產公司

The administrators of the Estate of Michael Jackson are handpicked by Michael
himself. It is very important for LMJ that the Estate is involved in a
tribute of global size. We asked Picheta why they are not working with the
Estate. According to Picheta GLE respects the Estate, the work they do and
the copyrights they have. He also is clear about the fact that in the UK it
is allowed to perform songs from any artist you want as long as you pay for
the use of them. There is an organization that takes 2,5 % of the ticket
price to make sure this is done.

Picheta says they feel they are not working against the Estate but alongside
the Estate. He also points out that 13 Jackson family members will be either
attending or performing at the show.

個J家成員會出席或表演

He also referred to the diplomatic response of Janet Jackson who was invited
to perform too. Janet told GLE that “it is not right for her at this time”.

他也解釋Janet不出席的原因 他們有邀請 但Janet說時機不對
(就是時機不對)

又在公開撒謊了 他們到底何時說過他們對Kiss事件感到抱歉? 再次當歌迷是白痴?
然後號稱智慧財產權在英國不適用 (這部分我不太了解 真是這樣嗎?)
並且再次聲稱 他們會把門票收益捐出去 但又說門票還沒賣 哪來的收益
(先生 我們是要你寫清楚 到底收益多少會捐出去好嗎???)

必且MJ的孩子們在滿21歲會有收益 (並表示他們已經先投入了十萬塊在其中)
還說 這會遠比孩子們收到遺產公司的錢的年紀還快太多了= =
(先生 又開始睜眼說瞎話 MJ設立的信託 明明就是孩子在21歲會接掌收益部分"income"
只是他們要40歲才會完全接掌本金的部份"principle 真是亂七八糟的指控)

並且再次說 退票明明就是受UK法律保護 歌迷不爽就可退
說他們也同意MJ對待歌迷的方式 而且他們絕對也會給歌迷一個饗宴
還說什麼他們也希望得到遺產公司的同意 不過這次看來不會了 下次再說吧 = =

倒~~~看來這個演唱會是勢在必行= =

個人覺得是非常不客氣的一封信 尤其是信託基金那部份 簡直讓人傻眼

我印象中他們有道歉耶。是我記錯了嗎？

信中的說法不是說"智慧財產權"在英國不適用，而是說英國的法律不同，
使用人名、講別人的故事這類的，並不涉及智慧財產的問題。但英國法律
是不是真的這樣我就不知道了。感覺上主辦單位是在玩灰色地帶。就像是
，「如果連用個人名講講故事都要你們遺產公司同意，那全世界都不可以
提到Michael Jackson兩個字、也不能討論他，除非先得到你們同意？」意
思就是要凹說用MJ的名號並沒有什麼不對，但是卻忽略他們是拿MJ的名號
收錢這件事。這是我個人的解讀。

就是啊。信中說他們很透明，到底是透明在哪裡？還是不清不楚避重就輕。

牽拖什麼信託基金，感覺就是在打迷糊仗，好像有成立所謂的信託基金就是
真的在做慈善、叫大家不要不要再鞭的樣子？三個孩子靠遺產管理照樣能過
日子，現在有一定的生活費，未來也會繼承，而且好手好腳長大可工作(不
過J家的第三代...)。「需要」靠這個信託基金嗎？到底是J媽想搞錢，還是
主辦單位想要做樣子來討好？

那個信託基金的部份我覺得很怪，不知是不是我理解上的問題。他們說"替
孩子們"成立了信託基金，卻又說"J媽是唯一的受益人"。如果J媽是唯一受
益人，怎麼算是孩子們的基金？J媽愛怎麼用就怎麼用，用到一毛不剩孩子
也沒辦法啊。(我情願相信J媽不會這麼離譜。) 不過這也解釋了為什麼J媽
會挺這個活動。根據我和J媽有限的互動的了解，J媽在選擇合作或支持對象
時，往往都是以名利為考量，連MJ的喪禮也是這樣搞。(講到這眼眶就濕了)

這整封信的口吻都是在嗆在酸遺產管理人啊。他們雙方私心的考量都跟歌迷
沒關係，歌迷在乎的只是MJ神主牌被拿來斂財且壓榨歌迷吧？

Another MJ Family Tribute In Works

(6-9-2011) Two members of Michael Jackson's family - sister Rebbie and
brother Tito - are teaming up with producer David Gest and family friend,
singer Deniece Williams, to play a series of dates in Europe next year in
tribute to Michael Jackson.

MJ的大姐Rebbie和哥哥Tito 要和製作人兼家族好友David Gest合作 還有一個歌手
Deniece Williams  打算在明年在歐洲辦一系列的MJ致敬演唱巡迴

The unique shows will be spoken-word and feature stories about Michael and
'question & answer' sessions with the audience as well as music.

這些演唱會 會包含講述MJ的故事 和與觀眾問與答的單元 同時有音樂表演

"The majority of the show will be reminiscences and stories about Michael
that the public has never heard," Gest said.

Gest說 這個演唱會主要包括MJ的回憶和故事 大部分是大眾所不知的

The tour, which is being called 'A Jackson Named Michael: Remembering a
Legend,' will begin next March 2012. Gest has also produced a documentary,
'Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon,' which will be released on DVD next
month.

這個巡迴名稱為 A Jackson NAmed Michael: Remembering a legen 會從明年三月開始
同時Gest還有一個MJ的紀錄片將在下個月發行
