New King Acy is more than an ‘energy player’ with a bark

With the addition of Quincy Acy, the Kings’ sideline celebrations have 
become much more energetic.
隨著Quincy Acy的到來，國王隊的場邊加油團變得更加活力四射。


When he’s not in games, the bald and bearded second-year forward still can 
be heard and seen as one of the loudest and demonstrative supporters of his 
teammates.
即使這位二年級的光頭大鬍子前鋒不在場上，你依然可以聽到或看到他用最大的聲音
激勵著隊友。


So if you hear what sounds like a bark during a game, it’s likely coming 
from Acy.
因此如果你在比賽中聽到像是嚎叫的聲音，十之八九是來自Acy。


“It’s not barking. It’s like I’m saying ‘Ooh,’ ” Acy said. “It’s 
just like a big-boy thing. It’s almost a bark.”
「我不是在嚎叫。比較像是在說＂Ooh＂，」Acy說。「這像是大男孩做的事。這確實
滿接近嚎叫的。」


Acy has added more than sideline theatrics since being acquired with Rudy Gay 
and Aaron Gray from Toronto on Dec. 9. He’s also given coach Michael Malone 
a player with toughness and tenacity, something often lacking with the Kings.
在去年12月9日與Rudy Gay及Aaron Gray一起從來到國王後，Acy不只為場邊帶來熱力，
他也帶給了教練Malone國王隊一直以來所缺乏的：一位硬派與堅韌的球員。


“I love the fact every minute he’s on the floor he’s going to give you 
everything he has,” Malone said. “He plays with a physical mindset, and 
guys like that are valuable, and I’m happy to have him. I knew he was 
talented, but ... he’s better than I thought he was.”
「我喜歡這傢伙在場上的每一分鐘，他會竭盡所能。他是個肉搏派的球員，這種球員
很有價值，我很高興能夠擁有他。我知道他很有才華，但...他比我之前想的好太多了。」
Malone表示。


Acy has been known as an “energy player,” a polite way of saying he lacks 
skills but works hard as an undersized power forward. Malone, who worked out 
Acy before the 2012 draft, said he’s the kind of player coaches like because 
of his effort.
Acy被普遍認為是所謂的「Energy Player」，婉轉地說明了他是個沒有技巧，但很有拼勁
的小號大前鋒。Malone在2012年選秀前的試訓中表示Acy是個教練們都會喜歡的球員，因
為他打球夠拼夠努力。


Acy, who played four seasons at Baylor, was selected in the second round by 
Toronto.
在貝勒大學打了四個球季之後，Acy被暴龍隊在第二輪中挑走。


“The word on him was he’s just an energy player,” Malone said. “That’s 
doing him a disservice.”
「那些加諸在Acy身上所謂Energy Player的言論，對他來說是種傷害。」Malone表示。


Malone has been impressed with Acy’s midrange jumper and ability to finish 
around the rim. He’s also adept at “energy player” skills such as 
rebounding, setting screens and getting physical around the paint.
Malone對於Acy的中距離跳投與籃框周圍的攻擊感到驚艷。同時，他也擅於Energy Player
的各種技巧－籃板、掩護、禁區的肉搏戰等。


“He’s a guy who can go out there and execute a game plan,” Malone said. “
He sets good screens, he gets his teammates open, and when he’s gotten the 
ball, he’s been able to finish. He’s got huge hands, and everything he does 
is with an aggressive, attack-the-basket mentality. And he’s shown the 
ability to knock down the midrange jump shot as well.”
「他能夠跳出來實行球對戰術。他的檔人紮實，創造出隊友的空檔，當他拿到球時，
他也有能力完成進攻。他有雙巨大的手，他所做的一切，都是基於他那侵略性、攻擊
籃框的態度。此外，他也展現出中距離跳投的能力。」馬龍說道。


With the Raptors this season, Acy played in only seven games, averaging just 
8.7 minutes. With the Kings, he has played in 17 games, averaging 3.4 points 
and 3.4 rebounds in 14.2 minutes and shooting 58.5 percent.
Acy本季在暴龍隊的日子裡，僅僅上場了七次，平均8.7分鐘。來到國王後，打了17場比賽
，在平均上場14.2分鐘內可拿下3.4分與3.4籃板，投籃命中率58.5%。


“More minutes on the floor means more opportunities to showcase what I can 
do,” Acy said. “I am an energy guy, but I do work on my game. I do have a 
little bit more.”
Acy說：「我在場上的時間越多，代表我有越多機會去證明自己。我是個勁量小子，但
我在比賽中努力打球。我確實得到了更多機會。」


Even though he’s only 6 foot 7, Acy has backed up the power forward and 
center positions, so part of his all-out style is because he’s dealing with 
bigger and stronger players. Acy is shorter than Gay, who at 6-8 starts at 
small forward.
雖然他只有6呎7吋，但Acy能夠勝任大前鋒跟中鋒，之所以如此是因為他能與更高更壯
的對手拼搏。Acy甚至比先發6呎8吋的先發小前鋒Gay更矮。


“In my mind, I’m 6-11, but the truth is I’m only about 6-7 at best,” Acy 
said. “I’ve just got to work that much harder.”
Acy表示：「在我心中，我有6呎11吋，但事實上我頂多只有6呎7吋。我必須更加努力才
行。」


Acy also has no problem being an irritant and getting in an opponent’s face, 
using a foul when needed or setting a hard screen.
Acy能夠點燃火花並重擊對手，在必要時也會使出強硬的犯規或是掩護。


“We all put on our shoes the same,” Acy said. “If a guy’s taller than me, 
that means he’s slower. If he’s smaller, that means he’s not as strong. It 
can always be balanced in the game. So if you see me guarding a bigger guy, I 
get low. The important thing is to try to get them out of their game.”
「有優點就一定有缺點。如果對手比我高，就代表他比我慢。如果對手比我矮，則代表
他沒比我壯。在比賽中這就是一種平衡。因此如果你看到我防到比我高的對手，我會壓
低重心。重點是想辦法讓對手無法打得得心應手。」Acy說道。


Acy said what Malone wants from him isn’t hard to do. That’s good news to 
Malone, because he’d like all his players to have that attitude.
Acy覺得Malone教練要求他所要做的事並不難。這對Malone來說是好消息，因為他希望
所有球員都能有這樣的態度。


“Energy, toughness, rebounding, defending, which I enjoy doing, so it’s 
kind of been an easy transition for me,” Acy said. “It’s just making sure 
I do it consistently and just get better every time I step on the floor.”
Acy說：「充滿能量、強悍、搶籃板球、防守，這些都是我樂於其中的事，因此對我來說
很容易。在我每次踏上球場時，我會持續不懈、變得更棒。」

剛剛在板上用Acy當關鍵字搜尋了一下，發現竟然沒有半篇相關文章
剛好在Sacbee看到這篇文章就來翻一下
感覺Acy就是個很安分、努力的球員，完全了解自己要做的是什麼
自從Acy來到國王之後就越來越欣賞他，有野獸派的爆扣
在板凳上的誇張加油手勢也很讚！
