Pete Carril walked out on the Arco Arena floor long before tipoff Sunday, and
it was as if he never left.

On the first day of official business after being rehired as a consultant,
the former Kings assistant and Princeton coaching legend began imparting his
wisdom in rapid-fire fashion. He called Francisco García over, reminding the
fourth-year swingman to play smart in late-game stretches. He worked with
Spencer Hawes, with the second-year center and Kings assistant Randy Brown
listening intently.

Moments like these, Carril said, are why he came back.

"Some people get a kick out of seeing a new car, some people like
wristwatches, some people like beautiful clothing," Carril said. "I like to
watch guys play (basketball) and seeing if I can help."

Carril was still involved with basketball near his New York home, but not
nearly enough for his taste. He said he would frequently attend Princeton
practices, although he couldn't assist because the team already had one
volunteer coach and the rules wouldn't allow one more. He would visit the
men's basketball programs at Lafayette and Seton Hall as well, but he didn't
stop keeping up with the Kings.

His NBA TV package provided a link to Sacramento, so Carril would watch Kings
games and routinely share his thoughts with friend and Kings basketball
president Geoff Petrie. Carril, who sat behind the Kings' bench in his first
game back, said he hopes to travel with the team as often as his 78-year-old
body will allow.

a while, you don't smell so good."

Wishing on an All-Star – With none of the Kings players expected to play in
the NBA All-Star Game in Phoenix on Feb. 15, there remains hope that
Sacramento will be represented in the rookie-sophomore game by Hawes and
rookie forward Jason Thompson.
全明星賽國王的球員全都在家休息，但還有一絲絲希望，就是Hawes和小湯參加新秀對抗

Players are voted into the rookie-sophomore game by assistant coaches with a
Jan. 26 deadline.
球員們都是由助理教練所投票選出來的。

"Considering the other rookies-sophomores in the league, I think they are
right up there," Kings interim coach Kenny Natt said.
「想想聯盟中其他一二年級生，我認為他們都會在那裡」 Natt說。
