How are you enjoying being an assistant coach?

I'm enjoying it. It's kind of an easy transition after playing basketball for
so long. It's not playing, but it allows me to stay around the game and stay
a part of it.

Were you confident it would go this smoothly?

Not at all. I wasn't sure. I don't think I was ever one of those guys who
necessarily always contemplated coaching. It was kind of an opportunity that
presented itself. I was lucky to be able to take advantage of it.

Now that you've retired, could you imagine going from playing to being away
from basketball cold turkey?
I think I could have. I think it probably would have been a little tougher
transition. That's what's been such a blessing about this, that it made my
transition easier from not playing. Especially coming into the season
expecting to play. Late August was when I really came to peace with the fact
that I wasn't going to be playing this year.

What's been the biggest adjustment from player to assistant coach?
That every night at about 6 o'clock, 6:15, your job is over instead of just
beginning. That actual outlet of competing and coming up to the games.

Do you miss playing?
Definitely. Definitely. Definitely. A lot. Honestly, I don't know if I'll
ever not miss it. To add to that, more than just playing, I miss being 25 and
playing.

How often have you thought about a comeback?
I'm at peace with the fact that I did it as long as I could do it, I think I
worked hard at it, I did physically all I could.

There are always teams that, as the playoffs get closer, look for that one
last piece for a playoff push or a playoff run. Being a big man is even more
attractive. What happens if your phone rings and somebody says, "You sure you
don't want to give it another try?"

圖。大個子是更有魅力的。假若你的電話響起，某位人兄說「你確定你不想再試試？」，

I just really couldn't do it. I wish I could. If I could, I'd still be out
here.

How often do you play? Do you play pickup games? Do you play one-on-one
against any of the guys?
I guard them, but I haven't really played a pickup game. I go out before
practice sometimes and shoot. I've played my son. But he's 6, so that doesn't
really count.
