Douby likely to get more minutes

LOS ANGELES – Quincy Douby took the pass from just beyond the arc, rose up
and buried a three-pointer from the right wing while falling on his backside.

The foul meant this would be a four-point play midway through the second
quarter of the Kings' game against the Clippers at Staples Center on
Wednesday night, and the Kings' second-year guard had himself a rare
highlight.

Yet moments later, Douby ran the floor and saw forward Shelden Williams open
in the lane. Douby's pass was off-target to the right, falling off of the
forward's fingertips in a missed chance for an easy basket.

Such is the quandary of Douby, who remains a mystery in the NBA and even to
his employers. His shooting ability has never been questioned, but his size
(6-foot-3) and lack of court vision mean he is no point guard.

Nonetheless, the message appears to have been sent to Kings coach Reggie
Theus that Douby needs more opportunities. And if the latest outing was any
indication, he will get them.

With minutes more readily available because starters Kevin Martin and Ron
Artest sat out because of injuries, Douby had 12 points by halftime. He
finished with 14. Theus knows playing time for Douby is a priority.

"My goal here is to try and win every game, but with the mind-set that we
have to try to continue to develop our young guys," Theus said. "With that in
mind, I sit there sometimes and look down the bench and see (Douby) sitting
there, and I'm trying to find out where I can get him a few minutes here and
there."

    「我希望盡力贏下每場球，同時也繼續讓小伙子們成長。所以當我坐在椅子上，看著
Douby 守著開特力時，就會想方法在比賽中找出幾分鐘讓他上去打打球。」 Theus說。

Martin's absence made it easier. The shooting guard bruised his right thumb
against the Lakers on Tuesday and had an X-ray taken Wednesday that was
negative. The injury is not believed to be serious. With Martin out, Douby
often played the off-guard position while Beno Udrih ran the point. Veteran
Anthony Johnson also has been playing substantial minutes that could be going
to Douby.

    Martin的右手姆指在對上湖人時受傷，雖然傷勢不嚴重，卻使得Douby 得到了機會。

"I think that 'Q's' best suit is to be on the wing," Theus said. " 'A.J.' is
a veteran point guard. And at the same time, I don't want to put 'Q' in a
situation where I throw him out there and tell him to run the team and he
hasn't done it in awhile."

    「我想對Q 仔而言，他最適當的位置就是側翼組。而AJ是個老球皮了。我並不想把還
沒長得夠大的Q 仔關鍵時刻丟到場上，讓他來帶全隊跑戰術，這是他現在還不能做到的。
」Thues說。
