Abdur-Rahim fills in admirably at center

By the second quarter Monday night, all pretense was gone.
Mike Bibby was in, Kevin Martin was in, John Salmons was in. Three guards,
although Salmons plays some small forward. Two true forwards, Maurice Taylor
and Kenny Thomas, were in.

在星期一晚上比賽的第二節，國王隊的陣容有了大變化，Mike Bibby、Kevin Martin、
John Salmon三衛和兩個前鋒Maurice Taylor、Kenny Thomas是國王場上的陣容。

The center, Brad Miller, was out. Way out.

但是中鋒Brad Miller卻不在場上。他也不在板凳席上。

Hours after announcing Miller would miss at least four weeks because of torn
tissue in the arch of his left foot, the Kings got their first look at life
without a true center in the rotation and decided against faking it. They went
small, using three guards and two forwards for much of the 93-81 victory over
the Minnesota Timberwolves in the home opener as Shareef Abdur-Rahim took
Miller's spot in the starting lineup and no one took Miller's spot in reality.

幾小時後，發布了Miller因為左腳有肌肉撕裂的問題而要休息起碼四個星期，國王隊第一
次發覺他們在輪替陣容中沒有一個真的中鋒，而他們也決定要用無中鋒的陣容上陣。在主
場開幕戰時，他們擺出了三衛二鋒的小球陣容，在這場以93比81獲勝的比賽中，
Abdur-Rahim取代了Miller的位置雖然說沒有人能夠真正取代大米的地位。

The opponent, without an imposing center itself, helped. But so will most teams
the Kings will face in the next month, which isn't the good fortune of
convenient timing as much as life for pretty much everyone in NBA '06-07. Have
Lilliputians, will travel.

今晚的對手，是一隻沒有強力中鋒的隊伍，這幫了他們不少忙，但對他們下個月將要面對
的許多對手而言，敵人的場上沒有一個大塊頭，應該會是一個相當不錯的事。

The Kings don't face Shaquille O'Neal until Dec. 7, right around the time
Miller could be returning, although he also could be weeks away. They don't see
Yao Ming until Jan. 13. They just got Ben Wallace last Friday and don't have to
contend with him again until Feb. 8. Those were the three all-league centers
last season.

國王會在12月7號對上熱火，還好那時Miller已經會回來並頂住歐肥，但他也有可能會再休
息幾個星期。姚明則是會在1月13號與他們碰頭。班蛙上星期五已和他們打過比賽，所以下
次再撞上是到2月8號了。這三位是上季ALL-NBA Team的中鋒。

The dropoff is enough from there that the Kings aren't too worried they'll have
to peel the 6-foot-9 Abdur-Rahim or Taylor, another converted power forward at
6-9, off the court at the end of the night. They actually might go a while
without relying on their only true healthy center, Vitaly Potapenko, in a
meaningful situation, Potapenko having played zero minutes the first four
games.

這讓國王不用太擔心在場上的中鋒是誰，是6呎9吋的Abdur-Rahim還是Taylor這位也是6呎9
的傢伙。但是有段時間，他們還是要靠他們唯一健康的中鋒Potapenko，不過這位仁兄在前
四場一場也沒上過。

"I think Shareef's definitely a known," coach Eric Musselman said. "We know
he's going to play hard; we know he's going to score. The unknown is what he's
going to do as a (center)."

「Shareef是個好球員。」教練Eric Musselman說：「我們知道他打球很悍，我們知道他可
以得分，但我們不知道他可不可以頂上中鋒位。」
（翻成打球很悍比起翻成打球很努力讓我爽多了XD）

Monday, Abdur-Rahim went 41 minutes in his first start since Dec. 26 and
contributed 13 points and seven rebounds. Taylor, signed early in training camp
with the expectation of playing him at center, got five minutes.

星期一是Abdur-Rahim自去年12月26號以來的第一次先發，他待在場上41分鐘，拿下了13分
和7個籃板。Taylor，這位在訓練營被簽下且希望他能打中鋒位的球員，只上了五分鐘。

"It's not like it's something I haven't done before," said Abdur-Rahim,
downplaying the moment.

「就像我之前做的一樣。」Abdur-Rahim輕描淡寫的說著。

True, he played there enough last season to consider it common ground, but now
it apparently will be as the starting center. So much for the adjustment period
that supposedly just began.

是的，他在上季就曾多次代打這個位置，但現在他是正牌先發中鋒，他所需要的調適期將
會開始。

"None," he said. "I don't really think there's any adjustment."

「不！」他說：「我不需任何的調整。」

Not for him. Not for the Kings, either, at least for a night.

希望他能頂住這個位置，不是為了自已，也不是為了國王，而是為了一場精彩的比賽。

還是希望大米早點回來啊！不然國王的禁區真的是很空虛，Rahim和Taylor頂也不大適合
不然就希望對方的中鋒都是軟糖吧！

MEM、GSW、SEA還好說
對上SAS和UTA、LAC很抖了
Duncan、Boozer、Okur、Kaman、Brand麻煩溫柔點

還是我們把Artest拉高幾吋來頂好了XD
