Kings Activate Chris Webber
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Feb. 16 -- The Sacramento Kings on Monday activated
forward Chris Webber, according to Kings President of Basketball
Operations Geoff Petrie.
Webber has missed all 50 of the Kings' regular-season games this year
due to an injury suffered in Game 2 of the 2003 Western Conference
Semifinals at Dallas (5/8), ending his season. He underwent left knee
surgery to repair a torn lateral meniscus and to smooth and repair
an articular cartilage defect for healing during this past off-season
(6/10).
Webber, currently in his 11th NBA season, and sixth with the Kings,
has amassed career averages of 22.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists,
1.52 steals and 1.71 blocks per game over 596 regular-season contests
through 10 NBA seasons with Golden State, Washington and Sacramento.
In a related move, the Kings placed forward Lawrence Funderburke on the
injured list (left Achilles surgery) to make room for Webber on the
active roster, which now stands at 12 players.
