Stojakovic, Kings Rally Down the Stretch
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 14 (Ticker) -- The struggles of the Phoenix Suns
disappeared until the fourth quarter.
Peja Stojakovic tied a season high with 36 points and Anthony Peeler had
a clutch tip shot in the final minute as the Sacramento Kings rallied for
a 107-102 victory over the Suns, who have lost six in a row.
Phoenix had a 92-79 lead after the third quarter but managed just 10 points
in the fourth. It avoided matching the lowest scoring quarter in franchise
history when Stephon Marbury, who made just 2-of-11 shots in the second
half, made a meaningless layup in the final seconds.
"We knew that if we weren't going to score, they were going to come back,"
Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni said. "Obviously, we just kind of laid an egg
in the fourth quarter. We didn't make the big shots down the stretch and
they made the big shots. And that's usually what NBA games come down to."
The Kings scored 21 of the first 27 points in the period, including the
first eight, and held on to extend their winning streak to four games.
Sacramento made 9-of-22 shots and 8-of-9 free throws in the final 12
minutes while Phoenix was held to just 3-of-26 shooting.
"The first three quarters is what we have to look at," Suns guard Penny
Hardaway said. "We have to find a way to turn it up down the stretch. (
The Kings) started to play harder and made the stops they had to make."
"In the fourth quarter our guys really, really dug down," Kings coach
Rick Adelman said. "They worked their tails off defensively. Can't say
enough about the effort those guys put in the fourth quarter."
The Suns forged a 98-98 tie after Shawn Marion made a hook shot with
5:02 remaining but did not make another basket until Marbury's game-
ending layup.
Stojakovic, who made 11-of-22 shots. answered with a jumper to give
Sacramento the lead for good at 100-98 with 4:16 remaining.
Stojakovic added a runner 1:28 later, but Marbury responded with a pair
of free throws.
After the teams twice traded scoreless possessions, Kings forward Brad
Miller missed a runner, but Peeler followed the shot with a lefthanded
tip to make it 104-100 with 25 seconds left.
"That's how you win games, everyone has to get something," Peeler said.
"Everyone came in and gave a hard effort and that's how we got through
it."
Miller made 3-of-4 free throws in the final 19 seconds for Sacramento,
which was 29-of-31 from the line.
Miller, who made just 1-of-9 shots in Friday's win over Utah, had 17
points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds.
Marion collected a season-high 32 points, 12 rebounds and six assists
as Phoenix fell to 0-3 under D'Antoni.

國王主砲 Peja Stojakovic 今天砍進5顆三分球，轟下36分並送出5次助攻，加上老將
Anthony Peeler 在最後24秒補進2分，讓國王領先優勢到達4分，奠定勝利的基礎；迫
使太陽吞下六連敗，國王也是連續第七次在自家地盤Arco Arena擊落太陽。
太陽今天的敗戰罪人就是Stephon Marbury，雖然他全場砍進22分，並送出8次助攻，但
他在下半場11次出手僅命中2球；一旦Marbury太「獨」，太陽當然就必須接受失敗的命
運。太陽主戰小前鋒 Shawn Marion轟下全隊最高的32分，還外加12籃板、6助攻，只可
惜獨木難支大局。
國王陣中除 Stojakovic 的進攻火力雄厚外， Brad Miller 貢獻17分、9籃板， Doug
Christie 獲得14分、5助攻，「最佳第六人」Bobby Jackson也有13分、9籃板、5助攻
進帳。而在關鍵時刻補進致勝分數的Peeler則是有8分、6籃板的表現。
