Warriors Get Long Awaited Win Over Kings
OAKLAND, Calif., Dec. 26 (Ticker) -- Nick Van Exel and the Golden State
Warriors knew a victory over the Sacramento Kings wouldn't come easily.
Van Exel hit a key runner with 18 seconds left as the Warriors snapped
a 15-game losing streak against the Kings with a 98-91 victory.
Golden State had not beaten its Northern California rivals since Dec.
20, 1999. The Warriors appeared to have the win in hand after Jason
Richardson's two free throws opened up a 93-79 lead with 4:31 left.
But Sacramento roared back with 12 straight points to get within 93-91
on Mike Bibby's two free throws with 1:49 to go. The Kings had chances
to tie, but Bibby missed a pair of foul shots with 50 seconds left and
Peja Stojakovic's jumper 12 seconds later rimmed out.
Van Exel, playing against Sacramento with Golden State for the first
time, was isolated on Doug Christie and his runner in the lane went
around the rim before falling through for a 95-91 advantage. Van Exel
scored 10 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter.
"We put the ball in his hands," Warriors coach Eric Musselman said. "He
has delivered for us this year and he has delivered his entire career."
Bibby scored 28 points for Sacramento, which has dropped consecutive games
for the first time since Nov. 7-9. Bibby, an 83 percent foul shooter, was
6-of-6 from the line before missing his crucial pair down the stretch.
"I could not believe that I missed not just one free throw but two," Bibby
said.
Richardson finished with 25 points and Mike Dunleavy added 16 of his 18 in
the first half for Golden State, which won its second straight against a
Western Conference powerhouse following Tuesday's victory over the Los
Angeles Lakers. The Warriors also got 15 points and 14 rebounds from Troy
Murphy.
"It has been a mental thing in the past," Murphy said. "They are the
closest team to us and they have beaten us 15 times in a row. It has been
a big mental barrier for us to get through, because we want to beat them
worse than any other team in the league."
Van Exel snapped a drought of more than six minutes without a basket with
a 3-pointer for an 89-77 cushion with 5:29 to go. Van Exel scored 10 of
the Warriors' final 12 points.
"We just have to keep playing together and stay in the hunt for the
playoffs," Van Exel said. "That is all that we want to do. If we can get
everyone healthy, that would be a pretty good goal for us."
Stojakovic, returning after a one-game suspension for bumping an official
in Monday's win over Memphis, scored 16 points for Sacramento, which
dropped to 5-6 on the road.

的主要關鍵卻由罰球決定， 勇士全場獲得35次罰球機會，投進28分；國王只有20
次罰球機會，投進17分。國王以畢比的28分5個籃板表現最佳，其次則是斯托亞克
維奇的16分8個籃板； 勇士得分最高的是理查德森的25分4個籃板四抄截，板凳莫
非則交出15分14籃板雙十成績。
勇士前次從國王手中拿下勝利是在1999年12月21日，事隔4年之後終於再次取勝；

就在最後的51秒，國王後衛比比獲得了兩次罰球機會，如果全部命中，將出現平
分局面，但在最需要他罰進的時刻，比比手軟了，兩個球都沒有罰進去。
看到國王失去了這個良機後，勇士由後衛艾克塞爾在最后18.8秒投進一個跑投，
鎖定勝局。
賽後，比比很為自己的手軟懊惱，“我不敢相信自己會罰丟了一個，更不要說最
後我兩個都沒有進去。要命的是，我們還因此輸了球。”事實上，勇士也不相信
比比會罰丟那兩個球，更不相信他們會獲得最後的勝利。“要是放過去，我們根
本不能指望對手罰不進去球。”勇士后衛理查德森說他們很幸運。

勇士今天如果沒有 Nick Van Exel 挺身而出，或許還會延續對國王的連敗紀錄。
Van Exel 第四節貢獻十分，幫助球隊最終以98比91擊敗對手，中止四年來的十五
連敗窘境。
國王以 Mike Bibby 的二十八分五籃板表現最佳，其次則是 Peja Stojakovic的十
六分八籃板；勇士得分最高的是 Jason Richardson 的二十五分六籃板四抄截，板
