Postgame Quotes-vs. Boston
Rick Adelman
“Obviously, offensively we were very good. We shot the ball well, passed
it well. Davis and Pierce really got it going third quarter and fourth
quarter, but fortunately we shot well enough to get the win before we go
out on the road. You never know what you’re going to get when you come
into a situation like that, but Vlade was good all the way around; Darius
stepped in and had a nice game too…I think the way we pass and shoot, we
can hurt a defense like that if we just have patience and see what’s
happening – I think for the most part during the game we did that.”
Regarding the upcoming game in Minnesota:
“It’s going to have to be a little bit better than we played tonight.
Playing there, against a very good team, and we’re shorthanded –
you’ve got to go in and play the game and I think we feel we’ve just
got to compete, we’ve got to get in the game early…like I said, with
these next eight games with Chris out and Brad out, you just point to
each game and you do the best you can each game – you just try to win
games until you get your whole contingent back again, then you move on
from there. It’s a good start; it was an important game for us to get
a win here before we go the road and now we just have to try to build
on it.”

Bobby Jackson
We came out and played good, (with) a couple days rest – nobody worked
out the whole weekend and we had a lively practice yesterday. Everybody
was tired so we came in with a lot of effort. Everybody came to play. We
were short and every body knew they had to step up and play their game.”
“You know me, I ain’t scared to shoot. That’s my motto. It was just
nice to get it in play. I hadn’t played the last three or four games
and I just wanted to come out and play well and make things happen.”
“I feel good, I feel real good. Hopefully (my injury) is not going to
continue to bother me…I’ve just got to continue to get treatment and
make sure it doesn’t come back.”

Darius Songaila
“I wish it wasn’t like that…but obviously, everybody would be happy
to start. Vlade had a triple-double and I did what I could.”
On starting against his former team:
“I didn’t really look at it that way. It was just good to start; it
just happened to be Boston.”
On playing against Kevin Garnett in Thursday’s game:
“I don’t want to say I will be the guy that’s going to be relied on.
I just have to come up off the bench and step up a level of play. Right
now, everybody’s got to contribute… I’m just going to do the things
that I’ve been doing.”

BOSTON CELTICS
Celtics coach John Carrol:
"I kind of felt like we were back in Toronto, earlier this season, when
they set a record for threes and every shot they took went in. Almost
like deja vu. But there's a reason why they're No. 1 in all the shooting
categories. They made a lot of shot that your average team would make.
I'm not saying we played defense they way we needed to. At the same time,
they made a lot of hard shots. And we missed a lot of shots around the
basket, especially in the first half, that probably would have made the
game a little different. But they earned it. They made the shots and we
didn't."
"Their bench was really good in the first half. We kind of negated them
in the second half. But they came back and they really hurt us. Bobby
Jackson made shots. Even (Tony) Massenburg made a couple of shots during
that stretch in the first half. They guys did a wonderful job the first
time we played them. And we didn't tonight. You look at 37 assists and
you look at all five starters. They played a wonderful game. We could
never get a stop. We couldn't put together enough defensive stops to be
able to even be close. We have enouch offensive firepower to be able to
score points. But against this team, you can't just trade baskets.
They're just too good."
"(Vlade Divac) is just a consumate basketball player. He knows how to
play. There's not much he can't do. He passes, he shoots, he rebounds.
He's a wonderful center. He's just a wonderful basketball player."
"I think any team that puts that amount of points on the board can cause
damage anywhere. I just think that there's a fine balance between scoring
defense. And when the Kings are at their best, they've not only scored.
But they've also defense. So, I think that will be the challenge for any
team to move farther along in the playoffs – the balance between offense
and defense."
Guard Paul Pierce:
"There's a reason why they're the best offensive team in the league. The
thing about them, they make a ton of shots. Those shots from the three-
point line, they knock them down. That's what makes them one of the elite
teams. They make the tough shots. And it doesn't matter who's on the court
with them."
"Vlade is like the glue of that team. He's the veteran, he's the oldest
one. He understands the game and they run a lot of their offense with
him."
"I love the game too much (to be frustrated). I didn't even realize we
lost 9-of-10. To me, we only lost one in a row."
Center Chris Mihm:
"They're not the best team in the league for no reason. They play well.
They do a hell of a job passing the ball. And obviously, as you saw
tonight, they have so many weapons shooting the ball from the outside.
They have a lot of guys shooting the threes."
