Winning at ARCO Arena has come easy lately for the Sacramento Kings.
A matchup at home against the Houston Rockets shouldn't shake their
confidence.
The Kings, who can secure the third-longest home winning streak in
franchise history, hope to continue their dominance of the Houston
Rockets at ARCO Arena.
Sacramento has won 15 straight games at home, including eight straight
this season. The Kings, who have won their six home games this month by
a combined 98 points, can record the third-longest home winning streak
in franchise history with a win.
The Kings won 15 straight when they played in Kansas City in 1979. Their
longest home winning streak came in the 1949-50 season, when they won 23
straight as the Rochester Royals.
Sacramento now takes on a Rockets team it has beaten eight straight times
at home. Houston's last road win against the Kings came on March 28, 1999
, a 107-93 decision. The Kings have won 13 of their last 16, overall,
against the Rockets.
"We have so far (gone undefeated at home) but you can only go game by
game," Kings guard Doug Christie said.
This is the fourth game of an eight-game homestand for the Kings.
Peja Stojakovic scored 26 points as Sacramento beat the Memphis Grizzlies
for its sixth straight win, 109-89 Tuesday.
No team has been on a better offensive tear recently then the Kings, who
have averaged 113 points in their last five games. Sacramento leads the
league in scoring (105.6 ppg), assists (28.4), field-goal percentage (
47.6 percent) and 3-point shooting (43.3 percent).
Balance has been the trademark of recent Sacramento teams and this one is
no different. Only Peja Stojakovic, fourth in the league in scoring at
24.0 ppg, averages more than 20.
Houston, which lost 83-76 to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, has lost two of
three after starting the season 8-3. Yao Ming had 20 points and 10
rebounds , but the Rockets could never get their offense going
consistently and finished 25-for-75 from the floor.
Cuttino Mobley finished with 14 points and Steve Francis scored 13 for
the Rockets, who came close to matching their season low of 71 points.
"It's going to be a struggle when your two best players (Yao Ming and
Steve Francis ) shoot 8-for-30," Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said.
"We're not, right now, quite where we need to be."
