PHOENIX - Here Thursday, gone Friday.
That was the deal for Kings guard Bobby Jackson, who was
back in street clothes when his team met the Phoenix Suns
on Friday night at America West Arena.
Jackson said he felt fine in the locker room following
Thursday night's deflating home loss to the Minnesota
Timberwolves, but that wasn't the case Friday morning.
"He seemed OK," Kings coach Rick Adelman said of Jackson,
who was in the crowded training room Friday receiving
treatment for the abdominal strain that forced him to miss
24 straight games before the T-wolves contest. "But that
was (Thursday night). When he woke up (Friday), he was sore
and said he had a lot of soreness."
Adelman said he doesn't know what the relapse means in the
grand scheme of things, adding, "But I do know I feel bad
for Bobby, because I know he really wants to play."
However, it seems highly unlikely the Kings will decide to
play Jackson again before the playoffs start next weekend.
"I'm going to talk to Bobby and (trainer) Pete (Youngman),
and (president) Geoff (Petrie) should be back home (today),
and we'll have to sit down and figure out what we are going
to do," Adelman said.
When the Kings re-activated Jackson on Thursday, they placed
swingman Gerald Wallace on the injured list with a sprained
left foot. Therefore, Wallace is unavailable to play against
the Lakers, at Denver on Monday night or at Golden State in
the regular-season finale Wednesday night.
Wallace said he can't even walk without pain, much less play
comfortably. He had been trying to play through the pain.
Wallace's season has been ruined by nagging injuries. He
missed six games with a sprained left knee and 16 with a
sprained left foot. He was placed on the list with what is
being called a sprained left ankle, but he says it's the
left foot sprain that hurts from the top of his foot and
around to the bottom.
