The Sacramento Kings have signed rookie forward-center Jason Thompson to a
multi-year contract, it was announced by Kings’ President of Basketball
Operations Geoff Petrie. Thompson was Sacramento’s first round selection
(12th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft out of Rider. Per team policy, terms of
the contract were not disclosed.

Thompson, who enjoyed a four-year career at Rider, finished with averages of
16.7 points (.526 FGs, .667 FTs), 9.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.9 blocks
per game through 122 outings.

The rookie from Rider is officially on the Kings' books.

"I feel like a King now," Jason Thompson said after signing a multiyear
contract Tuesday, less than two weeks after the Kings selected him 12th
overall in the NBA draft. "This is just the start of the journey."

According to the league's collective bargaining agreement, Thompson's 2008-09
salary will range from $1,262,560 to $1,893,840with two years guaranteed and
team options for 2010-11 and 2011-12.

The Kings did not disclose details of the deal, per team policy. Thompson
averaged 16.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in four years at Rider.

assistant coach Chuck Person and 17 other players in Las Vegas for five
summer-league games from Saturday to July 20.
