A year ago, it seemed as if Beno Udrih's days in Sacramento were coming to an
end.

The Kings had drafted Tyreke Evans. Kevin Martin was back and healthy. And if
the Kings needed a backup point guard, there was the cheaper and flashier
Sergio Rodríguez on the squad.

All the Kings needed was a team willing to trade for Udrih, who was in the
second year of a contract with more than $27 million guaranteed left on it.

Entering the 2010-11 season training camp next Tuesday, Udrih is hardly
expendable.

Udrih showed his worth backing up Evans, and eventually became a starter
after Martin and Rodríguez were traded in February.

Udrih averaged a career-high 12.9 points and tied his career-high with 4.7
assists per game last season. He also shot 49.3 percent from the field –

Along the way, he impressed the new coaching staff with his smarts and with
how well he played alongside Evans.

makeup of our roster now, that's how I view him," Kings coach Paul Westphal
said.

The Evans-Udrih situation had the potential to be difficult. Udrih didn't
play in the season opener, and it was obvious the Kings were quickly becoming
Evans' team.

By the end of the season, Udrih had established himself as a leader.

"Everyone's always on trial in the NBA," Westphal said. "Instead of pouting
about it, he accepted the challenge and carved out a nice niche for himself."

Udrih did so even after injuring his heel in training. He dealt with a sore
heel and plantar fasciitis in his right foot last season.

Udrih spent the offseason resting and has been working out with Kings trainer
Daniel Shapiro and teammates.

Udrih didn't play for Slovenia in the FIBA World Championship because, "I
just felt I wouldn't be happy to be there" after seeing what his role would
have been. The decision gave Udrih an extra month to prepare for the NBA
season.

Entering his seventh NBA season – fourth with Sacramento – he's in good
spirits.

"I'm really happy," Udrih said. "That's part of why I decided not to play for
the national team."

Udrih credited Westphal and the coaching staff with helping him find his
place with the Kings on the floor.
BENO對西佛以及教練團表達感恩，是去年新上任的教練團使他獲得重生。
"I know I have someone behind my back like Coach Paul and the assistant
coaches," Udrih said. "They showed they believe in me. It was definitely a
great experience last season, and hopefully we can go further and further."

Udrih was in West Sacramento on Tuesday at the West Sacramento Teen Center
with teammate Francisco García to announce they'd purchased 50 lower-level
season tickets for local youth and special groups as part of the Kings for
the Community program.

García's 25 tickets will benefit the Latino community under the La Casa de
García group. Udrih's 25 tickets will be donated to persons who have had
tragedy in their lives as part of his One-B Club.
CISCO跟BENO捐贈的票會幫助到一些遭遇不好的人家。
In all, Udrih and García are donating 2,200 tickets.
最後他們總共買了2,200張票。
