Webber Talks About Injury
Kings forward Chris Webber met with Kings radio play-by-play man Gary
Gerould before Friday's (11/07) game against the New York Knicks, and
spoke on air about the progress on his injured knee. Below is the
transcript for the chat.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gerould: You just got back from seeing your doctor, Dr. Andrews, in
Alabama. What's the latest?
Webber:“I just met with the doctor about my progress, and he said that
it’s coming along pretty good and that we’re just going to have
to re-evaluate as we go along, and hopefully I can keep getting
healthy as time goes on and I'll be able to play as soon as I can.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gerould: You've been making good progress, I'm sure in your mind you feel
you're closer to being ready to go?
Webber:“I think that’s what you would like to hear, but you have to be
realistic with the kind of injury. We’ll just have to see how
things go—I'm just gonna keep working and hopefully it will get
better.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gerould: Did you have any idea that it would become this tedious?
Webber:“Life always throws you surprises so you gotta be ready for them.
Hopefully I can handle them mentally as well as physically.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gerould: Will you be on the road more or will you be staying home to
rehab?
Webber:“I hope to be at home, because you can rehab more at home than
you can on the road. I just need to get healthy so that I can
join this team. Right now my focus is to get home as soon as
possible so I can hit the gym.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gerould: What are your observations on what you see from this team in
your absence ?
Webber:“I see a tough team—I see a team that has a lot of character.
I see a coaching staff that is doing a great job by maneuvering
and changing the line-up. I’m very proud of this team and hope
that I can join them as soon as possible.”
