Roger Hinds is in his fifth season as athletic trainer for the Mavericks.
He arrived in Dallas after spending four seasons as assistant athletic trainer
and strength and conditioning coach for the Atlanta Hawks.
Hinds, who served as strength and conditioning coach for Dream Team III at
the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics, joined the Hawks from the College of
Charleston (SC).
While at the College of Charleston, Hinds was the head athletic trainer from
1980-90 and director of sports medicine from 1990-92. He was also an adjunct
professor in the health, physical education and recreation department and a
strength and conditioning coach.
Hinds, a licensed athletic trainer for the state of Texas, is a contributing
author of Condition the NBA Way, a book on athletic conditioning written by
12 of the NBA's leading strength coaches. He is also one of five NBA head
athletic trainers contributing to HarperCollins Publishers' NBA Workout
Training Guide. Hinds also taught a course on athletic training in 1996 for the
Argentinian Basketball Association.
Born Aug. 24, 1955, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies, Hinds earned a
Bachelor of Science degree in physical education at Brooklyn College in 1977
and a master of physical education from Indiana State University in 1978.
