I'm new to HoopsWorld and this board but I have been a Knicks fan for
over 40 years and I have been a Knicks MessageBoard regular (Prodigy
then AOL) for thelast 15 years. I also happen to live in Gainesville,
Florida where the University of Florida is located.
I have met David Lee and I can tell you he is a fantastic young man.
He's also a very skilled basketball player who is a lot more athletic
than most people know.His strengths are easy. He works hard, hustles,
has good basketball instinctsand he uses his athleticism well on defense
and off the glass. He played a lot of low post at Florida so he has
some moves down low. He is an outstanding ballhandler and passer.
He is a natural lefty who broke his left arm once and learned to become
as proficient with his right hand as he was with his left. It's a
gift not many ballplayers have and it serves him well driving to the
basket.
Lee's weaknesses are his midrange game and he tends to rush things in
the paint.He will crouch with the ball, making himself smaller, instead
of holding the ball high and going straight up using his jumping ability
and quickness. I know for a fact he is working diligently on the jumpshot
and I am sure Brown, Herb and Mark Aguirre will school him on his post
game. I think his best position could be SF where his ability to hit the
boards and post up plus his ballhandling and passing would bemost
beneficial. He can guard small forwards. If he can develop a midrange
game, much like Trevor Ariza needs to do, he could be an Andrei Kirilenko
type player capable of dominating at one end of the floor and holding up
his end at the other.I doubt he ever becomes a reliable three point threat
but he is an asset now and he will get better. In fact the pro game is
ideally suited for his abilities as he can run, jump and defend better
than most bigs.
Isiah knew what he was doing and what he was getting with David Lee. The
best partis he is a good kid who will always represent the Knicks well and
will never be a disciplinary problem. He is also very blue collar, bring
his linch pail to work kinda guy who will never stop working to get better.
期待他明年能夠在新秀對抗賽出現.
