精華區beta Knicks 關於我們 聯絡資訊
Donnie Walsh's future with the Knicks remains unknown, and the team president isn't interested in talking about it. Walsh's current deal has an option for next year that Garden chairman James Dolan must pick up by April 30. The two sides could still negotiate an extension after that. During Carmelo Anthony's introductory press conference two weeks ago, Dolan said he would "get through the trade deadline" and then handle Walsh's contract. But Feb. 24 has come and gone, and there has been no word on Walsh's fate. When asked about the situation before Monday night's Knicks-Jazz game at the Garden, the 70-year-old Walsh wouldn't answer. "None of your damn business," he snapped. Since coming aboard in 2008, Walsh has transformed a salary-cap nightmare into a playoff contender, but this season, Dolan has grown increasingly involved in roster decisions. He played a key role in finalizing the Anthony deal, with the Daily News reporting that he had solicited advice from former Knicks president and current Florida International coach Isiah Thomas. Walsh and Dolan sat side by side at Anthony's press conference. Both have since insisted that they were on the same page about the deal and that Thomas played no role in it. But sources said Walsh was irate over Thomas' involvement and felt the Knicks gave up too much. Walsh said he's happy with the trade but has repeatedly complimented the players he dealt to the Nuggets. Monday, he said he wished he could have teamed some of them with Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire, something that might have happened if the Knicks had waited and Anthony became a free agent this summer. Walsh compared his new roster to the Miami Heat. "I think Miami and us are similar in a sense that you've got really, really super players there," Walsh said. "But in order to get those super players, you don't have the support cast where you should be thinking, 'We're supposed to win the championship.'"
