Bryant's postseason shooting percentage continued to hover in the low 30s
after a 7-for-20 night that produced just 21 points. Aside from a third-quarter
burst in Game 2, he has been unable to impose his will on a sturdy Rockets
defense.
"(Jeff) Van Gundy is a defensive-oriented coach," said Bryant, who addressed
the full media contingent for the first time since April 11. "He's not going to
allow us to continually do the same thing over and over. He's going to make
adjustments. He's going to pack the lane, he's going to work on rotations, he's
going to make sure the lane is crowded down there."
Of his own offensive difficulties, Bryant had little to say.
"If you're talking about just shooting percentage, that can be a bit
deceiving," he said. "I took a lot of shots with two seconds left on the shot
clock, three seconds left on the shot clock."

Kobe Bryant ended the longest media boycott of his eight-year career Friday
with a shrug and a grin, but on the issues that drove him into silence in the
first place, he remained decidedly mum.
After the Lakers lost 102-91 in Game 3 of their first-round series against
Houston, Bryant hustled down a Toyota Center hallway for a postgame weight-
lifting session. When he was finished, he returned to the Lakers locker room
and apologized for keeping reporters waiting -- presumably meaning the extra 30
minutes, and not the prior 11 days.
Bryant offered this general summation of the media.
"Some of you guys are really good guys. And I really mean that. I really mean
that. I have a lot of respect for a lot of you guys.
"Some," he said, drawing out the word, "not much. But that's in the minority.
And I really mean that. I think a lot of you guys are extremely professional, I
think you guys work really hard at what you guys do, you make sure your facts
are all straight and I appreciate that."
