Yes. I think you can make it, but have to be really early. You have
to take the complimentary shuttle (If they have, check with the hotel
first) from the hotel (Usually Century Blvd) to LAX then change to
Flyaway Bus to Union Station. And, you have to spend approx. 30 mins
to walk over there.

You could use supershuttle.com. It can be quoted and reserved
online. It's very convenient and don't need to worry about
anything. You can reserve a hotel close to Chinatown,
Monterey Park or any place which can be picked up by them.
Actually that link already provides you several hotels.
