The UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies and the UCLA Department of Psychology are pleased to announce an interdisciplinary doctoral training program dedicated to producing world-class quantitative educational researchers. The program brings together faculty from Education, Psychology, Biostatistics, and Sociology to offer advanced training in research design, statistics, psychometrics, and educational policy issues, and to provide practical research experience with real-world educational issues. Highlights include high-level quantitative training, an invited speaker series , interdisciplinary seminars, and research apprenticeships with renowned researchers in the education and psychology departments, including special opportunities in research related to teaching, learning, and testing in mathematics. Participating students receive a guaranteed stipend starting at $30,000/year for up to four years, plus coverage of full tuition and fees, health insurance , travel funds to conferences, and support for research expenses. Students with undergraduate or master’s degrees in education, psychology, mathematics, statistics, sciences, social sciences, or humanities may apply. Requirements include strong background or interest in quantitative methods; and an interest in education and educational policy issues. The deadline for applications is December 1, 2008 for admission in Fall 2009. This training program is supported by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) in the U.S. Department of Education.
