[問題] 關於美國教育及文化的幾個疑問

在讀一本關於教養青少年的書，遇到一些牽涉到美國教育及文化的部分，有點不懂..


1. 美國中學的 A, B, C.. 以及 A+ A-, B+ B- 等等成績，
　 分別相當於台灣教育的計分方式裡的幾分呢？
　 （譬如 B- B  B+ 分別相當於 80 85 90 嗎？）

2. 在一篇文章裡提到
   ［director of a drama department at a different high school］，
　 請問這裡的 drama department 是指戲劇社嗎？（高中應該還沒有戲劇系吧？）
　 而 director 是指［指導老師］還是［導演］還是...？

3. 文章裡說，
   ［As early as sixth grade, choosing electives becomes a fraught decision:
     Can Alison afford to take a World Languages class,
     or it is time to start developing a specialty in French?］
　 請問這裡的 "afford to take a World Languages class" 是甚麼意思呢？
　 specialty in French 又是指什麼？

4. ［（父親煩惱兒子：）He has to take a pre-AP course now, in eighth grade,
   　or he won't be set up to take APs later on.
     And without APs on his transcript, he's looking at a state school,
     maybe not even the main campus of a state school.］
　　 請問這裡會這樣子寫，是否是因為一般認為州立大學較差？
　　 而 main campus 又是指什麼呢？

5. ［Your son's preoccupation with food fights and barfing is normal.］
　　 網路上查到的 food fights 似乎主要是丟食物那種食物大戰，
　　 但這句後面又加了 barfing，所以 food fights 指的應該是大胃王比賽嗎？

6. ［If he plays a team sport at school, why not move up to a club sport?］
　　 請問 team sport 和 club sport 分別是指什麼呢？

7. ［The curriculum for a three-hundred-level course in Modern American Song.］
　　 請問這裡的 the curriculum for a three-hundred-level course
　　 是指什麼樣子的課程系統呢？

8. 我搞不懂美國教育體系到底是甚麼樣子..

   我知道有小學、有middle school、有high school，
　 請問－－高中
　 是總共四年嗎？小學和初中分別是幾年呢？所謂的十年級、十一年級又是指什麼？

推 foxsung:ap是自己決定要不要上的，也可以自己決定上什麼AP，AP同時

→ foxsung:也有SAT可以考，通常好的大學都會要求要有AP，沒修幾門AP
→ foxsung:大概也就等於你沒機會進好大學，AP也有點像是先修大學課程
→ foxsung:的意思，高中修的AP大學可能可以抵，這樣上大學之後也就可
→ foxsung:以少修幾門課，我認識個高中弟弟，他說連中文都有AP能考

→ Cadi:哦，原來還有不同的分法，但高中都固定是四年就對了~我懂了:)
→ marathons:小學/初中/高中幾年,各州各學區不同,有時還因應人數調整
→ marathons:常見有5+3+4或6+2+4,但也看過6+3+3,甚至有5+2+2+3四階段
