   Dear all,

   剛好看到前幾篇在討論老師寫給招生委員會的推薦信，
   剛好小弟也陸續幫幾位學生寫了申請國外研究所的推薦信，
   就把模板拿出來跟大家分享，如果您們的推薦人需要
   先幫他擬草稿，可以參考這篇，這是我覺得門下非常
   優秀的學生，要出國時我會套用的模板，希望對大家有
   幫助，這是我參考了幾位美國教授推薦信的內容，以及
   以台灣學生的立場整理出來的，希望不要鞭的太大力，
   也不要轉到阿陸的網站，謝謝~

   Dear Sir/Madam
   I am writing to support X's application
   for a graduate assistant position in your
   Department. I have known X for more than
   two years since he first joined my lab
   as a research student while a junior.
   Having already taken several lectures and
   laboratory courses regarding chemistry and
   biology, X has a solid background of science (如果推薦人是妳的授課
                                                 老師，一定要寫出成績A+,A...)
   and many practical experiences. Upon joining
   my research team, he is further involved in
   the application of food microbiology, bioch-
   emistry, and biological engineering, and has
   shown great enthusiasm for his work.X is exc-
   eptionally diligent and motivated, despite
   having a heavy course load, he always manages
   to find time to work on his research. I can
   vividly recall times when I came to the lab
   late in the evening and finding he still at
   work. While X is an independent self-starter,
   he is also a very genial person who can easily
   interact with others and work collaboratively
   as a group. With his keen and positive attitude,
   I have no doubt that X will perform splendidly
   in any type of environment.

   During his time in my lab, X has been practicing
   a variety of experimental techniques such as
   fermentation, animal cell and tissue culture,
   and biomaterial property analysis. He has also
   completed an individual project under the College
   Student Research from the Taiwanese National
   Science Council, which fully demonstrated the        (科技部大專生計畫)
   potential of bioreactor-produced bacterial cellulose
   as a wound dressing. Although some of his first
   attempts at running through the experiment prod-
   uced unexpected results, X wasn’t at all deterred
   by the outcome. In fact, he tried to improve his
   protocol with more research and eventually eliminated
   the affecting factors. I believe his good research
   performance is due to his immense effort in perfecting
   and mastering experimental skills, and his thoughtful
   analysis and integration of the study material. His
   attitude in facing and overcoming difficulties is also
   an indication of his strong and persevering character.

   In addition, X has completed a scientific paper regarding
   the application of XXXXX in XYZ plants this summer under my
   supervision. He also co-authored another manuscript
   about LKJ production, which is now submitted. More
   recently, X has joined a food chemistry lab in the Depar-
   tment of OOOO to pursue further training. Knowing his
   personality, I trust that he will be even more equipped
   in the food science field with the skills and knowledge of
   food chemistry.

   I would be very pleased to have X as my student
   here at NXU based on his enthusiasm and creativ-
   ity. I regard his decision of leaving as a big
   loss. I received my PhD degree at PXU under Prof. C’s
   supervision and know the system in the states well.  (剛好他要申請我的母校)
   Therefore, I highly recommend that you consider his
   application strongly, as he will be a great asset
   to your program. If you would like any further

   外國人只看事實，所以一定要具體描述你做過的事情，
   修課成績、實驗內容、文章發表...等。華麗的形容詞
   並不會對你有太多加分。
