Back from Izumo
I just returned from Izumo [1], where I went to see a dear old friend be
married at the Izumo Temple. I can’t believe that I’ve known him for twenty
years now! We were always together when we were teenagers. There were lots of
good times and lots of bad times, but it was a truly special relationship. If
I hadn’t had met him I wouldn’t be who I am today. I probably would have
given up. We were so young and enthusiastic when we flung ourselves headfirst
into the world of music, but when I think about it now, he was always the
steady force who stood behind me. Also, even twenty years ago he was an
amazing drummer. It’s his purpose in life, absolutely. And he’s only
getting better.
A few years ago he met someone amazing and was blessed with three beautiful
children. Now he has a wonderful family. Congratulations! It makes me so
happy to see a married couple that is so good together! I can’t believe that
you’re still going strong after five or six years (laugh). I truly believe
that you were born to be together. I’ve never had an experience like that. I
’m sad that we can’t do everything together anymore, but we’ll always be
lifelong friends. That will never change. And also, I hope that we can keep
making music together in the future.
It was a great stay in Izumo. I hope you’re blessed with happiness forever!
Shinya and Aya, congratulations!
