An amazing day.
I’m still absorbed in recording. The studio has become my second home. I
have a new project (although I can’t tell you what it is yet!) which means
that I’m struggling with three things at the same time. I think I’m about
to have a breakdown, or my head might explode. I’m still eating the same
thing and wearing the same outfit every day. It’s been really surreal and
overwhelming.
In spite of all this, I somehow ended up participating in a Be Good Cafe
concert. My good friend Tetra invited me and there’s no way I can say no to
him. I’ve really been a hermit for this past month, so taking part in such a
fun jam was a great feeling. I’ve been neglecting myself and so the concert
made me really refreshed and invigorated.
Along with Tetra, who is a brilliant sound designer, and Noto, an amazing dub
creator, we made a sound that felt like swimming underwater, while their
music and my violin entwined together rose up to heaven. From the darkness to
the light. It’s a concept I’m interested in, this underlying spiritual
purpose. The cello, shamanic singing, holy voices from the church of Sedona,
Masai children, hymns, all combined to make an resounding ambient sound.
Hell, earth, sky, heaven. Ascending and then being free. What an amazing
atmosphere! I hope I have the chance to make more music with them in the
future.
Be Good’s staff thanked me for coming and playing, but I should be thanking
them! I feel honored to have been invited, and like they helped cure whatever
illness I had.
Today (or is it yesterday already?) was an all around great day. But now,
back to the grind of recording. Staring next week is TD Hell (Heaven?) My
work is never done!
