Twenty-five years ago


Beloved John,

On a day a quarter-century ago, you passed on to the next level. I can’t
believe it’s already been that long! Through a horrific act of violence,
your soul was set free.

Time has continued on. Grief, sadness, and pain continue to thrive. I hate to
say it, but your message of love and peace seems farther and farther away.
The world has become more and more ugly. Terrorism, war, materialism, brute
force, poverty, disease, and hunger are widespread. It sounds negative, but
it seems like people are entirely taken over by greed. The earth is crying
out in pain. Destruction of the environment has led to natural disaster. But
I bet you can sense all of this, can’t you? Do you feel that something has
to change, something must be done?

Even now, so many wonderful artists are inspired by you. Your music and words
heal the soul and give them the power to keep on fighting. I’m barely in
their league, but I too am inspired by you. Some day, our prayers will turn
into positive energy that will flow throughout the whole world. Love will
overcome hate, indifference, and war. Caring and respect will defeat ego and
selfishness, and people everywhere will live together in peace. I have to
keep on believing that. Right now, all our pain is just the labor pangs of
the birth of a new age. Don’t you think?

John, you were a beloved, amazing, “bad boy” rocker. You brought the
message of love, peace, and the glory of freedom. From my heart, I love you –
 your music, words, spirit, your whole being. Even now, the fact that I can
devote myself to music, that I can continue living on, is all thanks to you,
all because you existed.

I want to thank you, from the very depths of my soul. My ultimate dream is
that when it’s my turn to begin the journey to that other world, I can meet
you there, and embrace you in friendship. Until then, I’ll keep on making
music, trying to express that ultimate light that I feel. That’s my mission.
John, please keep watching over us and supporting us, as always. And thank
you so very, very, very much.
