Ascension
On March 24th, The FLARE’s final show went off without a hitch.
Okay, that’s not true. There were lots of problems. Even though it was our
last performance, there was lots of trouble and we were beset by one thing
after another. It didn’t go as planned at all.
During the first part of the show, the audience was really wooden and
unresponsive. But by the final half, there was a much better feeling that
arose and I feel like we were able to ascend to somewhere as one. Not to pat
my own back, but I think it was a good send-off and a great experience for
everyone to have together.
Being able to nurture such a wonderful relationship within the band, playing
along with people I respect so much – YUNA (of course), Charlie,
Shinobu-chan, JAH-RAH – and becoming as close as family to them was the best
reward of all. The staff members were all wonderful as well. In the end, a
project that was full of ups and downs ended in the same manner, besieged by
difficulty (sad laugh).
To tell the truth, it’s not quite over yet. Now we have the important job of
putting together the concert DVD as well as a few other little things. We’ll
be working on this while I’m doing my Earth Day stuff, which means April
will be a very busy month for me.
It was a short project of only two years or so, but I’m really grateful for
The FLARE.
An entirely different topic, but today (yesterday already?) Hozumi Hasegawa
was amazing! [1] The match where he beat Veeraphol Nakhornluang so heroically
…it was something else! Much applause.
