A Prayer
August 6th is without question an extremely important day. It is the
anniversary of the dropping of the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima, the first use of
nuclear weapons in human history.
Sixty-one years have passed since then and yet even now the world is in the
grip of war. Depleted uranium ammunition is used in the Israel-Hezbollah
Conflict (which involves a lot of other countries too). One can’t help but
wonder if the “big men” who control the whole world have learned anything
at all in these last sixty-one years. Anger, hatred, resentment and fear are
rampant, and the people who lose their lives for the sake of these values are
always powerless citizens and children. The number of victims just keeps on
growing.
I guess all we can really do is to pray. Even in Japan – no, especially in
Japan – we should do everything we can to spread a truly peaceful power that
will unite all people. We must share the wish for a world in which no more
suffering is necessary.
“Nuclear power” is a horrible invention that should never have been
created. I wish we could erase it from the world. Wouldn’t that be the
single best way to free ourselves from the lust for power, from greed and the
desire to control?
August 6th is an extremely important day, and I’ll spend it standing on the
stage at NEO ASCENSION GROOVE, sending up a prayer for all the victims of
nuclear weapons. I’ll pray from the bottom of my heart for all of those who
must live in the shadow of war or who have had their lives taken from them. I
’ll pray that all these insane actions cease as soon as possible.
I hope that everyone who comes tomorrow (today already?) will hold close to
their hearts the importance of this day and join in this prayer while dancing
along together. I want to take even just a little bit of the positive light
that music makes and send it out into a world that is crying. Even just a
little bit will do.
