SPIRITUARISE!
December 5 is the release of my new album "SPIRITUARISE," the first release
under my own name in quite a while. A number of powerhouse creators were
involved in this transcendent remix album including trance scene gods JUNO
REACTOR, the band I've been a part of since last year and one I really
respect. Japanese trance scene leaders Sine6, Ubar Tmar, and MASA,
highly-respected dubstep rebels REBEL FAMILIA, my kindred spirits and
brothers-in-arms, amazing female ambient artist Electrical LOVERS, my dear
friend CHATANIX who will surely accomplish great things, and PISTON NISIZAWA,
J-WAVE navigator and well-known creator, also participated. Along with this
miraculous combination of big-name creators, I also put my all into some
remixes. Spanning from trancey and "upper" tracks to chill out, ambient
tracks, SPIRITUARISE is a truly supreme psychedelic dance album and I hope
you all give it a listen!
Thinking back, this project really started five years ago with the release of
"SUPER LOVE." Since before then I'd been tripping on psychedelic trance and
chill out, and just like when I was into drum and bass and abstract in 1997,
I wanted to drown myself in remix work. I undertook this project to seek out
chance meetings with exquisite inspiration and sound. The first few months
went really well and things flowed beautifully. But after that there were all
sorts of troubles and problems with the participants and my own production,
so music sort of fell by the wayside. Somehow things were fixed up and, after
years of clinging tightly to expression and music, circumstances changed bit
by bit. Those years of penance really felt like I was just barely connected
to life…
As far as music and my feelings go, I think that SPIRITUARISE is not just a
simple remix album, but the crystallization of years of wounds, tears, and my
loyalty to music that I never gave up on. I want to express my deepest thanks
and respect to all the mixers who participated and to all those who have
helped me over the past few years. A new road stretches out ahead of me, and
finally I can go forward.
Along with the release of this album, I've created a new label, also called
"Sephirot," with my closest comrades. From now on, it's going to be the
nucleus of my musical expression and the things I want to share. The time has
come to fly beyond worn out, established ways of doing things and the dying
rules of the music world. Will I be able to convey the way that music should
be, its reason for existing, its beauty? Will this lead to works that are
focused not just on business, but on spirituality too? That's the eternal
paradox of art and business, and the fight continues to defeat it. Through
Sephirot, I hope to become connected to new creators throughout the whole
world.
A release party was held on 12/1 for the album and the label. Because it took
place only in Second Life, it was a really exclusive concert. All the people
who gathered there were really deeply in tune and well-versed strong souls.
It was an experience that could not possibly have happened in the real world,
a party in a totally new and dangerously tempting world. The space was really
limited, exclusive, and special. I got really excited and had a great time. I
think I could really get into Second Life (though I need to learn more about
how to use it). I'm full of inspiration to continue on, so please keep an eye
out for what's next. Next time, I'll take the new methodology born from there
and transmit it to the real world. I'm sure it will be a blast!
N.A.G.8 on 10/31 was also amazing. My sworn friend Greg, SHAG, S.T.K. DJ
MIEKO, and AURA were all amazing. COLDFEET on 11/16 was also amazing. Lori
and Watusi are like family to me. Daiji Sato was amazing. Midorin of
SOIL&"PIMP" was amazing. NO NUKES MORE HEARTS on 11/18 was amazing. Toshio
Nakanishi was amazing and I really respect him. All of the music and people
that surround me now are amazing. I feel the smile of my muse with both my
body and soul, and I'm going to fly even higher from now on.

蒼々たるクリエイター達が参加した超絶REMIXアルバム

心の友であり戦友、ダブ・ステップの誇り高き反逆児

孤高の女流アンビエント・アーティスト、

大切な仲間であり今後の活動にも期待大な「CHATANIX--、
J-WAVEのナビゲイターでもお馴染みの粋なクリエイター
「PISTON NISIZAWA--氏、
それぞれ名だたる面々が奇跡的に集い、
さらに俺もリミキサーとして本気参加。
トランシーでアッパーなトラックから
チルアウト--アンビエントまで体感できる、
極上のサイケデリック・ダンス・アルバムになった。

思えばこの企画が始まったのが実に５年前。
「SUPER LOVE」リリース時だった。
それ以前からサイ・トランス、チルアウトにドップリだった俺は
1997年のドラムン・ベース--アブストラクトの時の様に
リミックス・ワークの洪水にメチャメチャ溺れたくて
このプロジェクトに着手したんだ。
さらなる研ぎ澄まされたインスピレーションと音の邂逅を求めて。
最初の数ヶ月は順調だった。流れは美しかった。
しかしその後、当時在籍してたメーカーや、
さらに自分のプロダクションにも様々なトラブル、問題が勃発し、
まともに音楽やってる場合じゃなくなってしまった。
なんとか体制を立て直して、
命削って表現にすがりつき音楽にしがみついて数年、
少しづつ状況はまた俺に見方してくれるようになった。
苦行的数年間は本当にギリギリで
命が繋がってるような感じだった。。。
この「SPIRITUARISE」は音楽的意味でも、思い入れの部分でも
単なる一リミックスアルバムを超越してしまっていて
俺のここ数年の傷と涙と
決して諦めなかった音楽への忠誠心の結晶なんだ。
参加してくれた大リスペクトなリミキサーのみんなにも
そしてここ数年間ヘルプしてくれた全ての人達にも
こころから感謝の意を表したい。
ここからまた俺の新しい道が始まる。
やっと次へ行ける。
今回、このアルバムをリリースするにあたり
心の同士達と共に新たなレーベル、
その名も「Sephirot」を設立した。
今後この場所が俺の音楽表現、発信の中枢になっていくと思う。
使い古された既成のやり方、死にかけている音楽世界の決まり事を、
もう飛び越えていく時が来ている。
これからあるべき音楽の本当の存在価値、美しさを
どう大きく伝えて行けるか。
ビジネスベースではなく、精神性、表現重視の作品群を
いかに大きく導けるか。
アートとビジネスの永遠のパラドックス。
打破するための挑戦は続くよ。
そしてこの「Sephirot」を通じて世界中の新たなクリエイターと
繋がりあっていきたいと思ってるよ。
12/1にこのアルバムとレーベルのリリースパーティがあった。
Second Life内限定でね。超限定ライヴ。
集まってくれた人達は、本当にアンテナが研ぎ澄まされた
コアでディープな情報に精通した強者ばかり。
リアルな世界では到底体験できない、全く新しい、
ともすると危険な誘惑にもまみれた世界でのパーティ。
メチャクチャ限定、インナーな、特別な空間。
超盛り上がった。楽しかった。
Second Life、ハマるわ--もっと遊び方覚えなきゃ--。
今後、続けていく気マンマンだから、みんな期待してね。
そして今後そこから生まれた新たな方法論を
次はリアルの世界で転写していく。
ヤバくなりそうだー。
