Wrapped up in music ~超音楽漬け~


Lately I've been so busy that I feel like I'm going to die.
As always, I'm totally wrapped up in music.
For the first time in a while,
I've been working on recording and TD as the solo artist SUGIZO.
Then there's the editing and TD for the LUNA SEA O.N.D. DVD,
and work on the LUNAN SEA COMPLETE BEST,
as well as dealing with the artwork and packaging for all of these things.
This chaotic situation is a total three-way struggle,
and editing the live footage is especially hellish. (^_^;)
My days and nights are totally reversed.
Since I've been so involved in TD,
it feels bizarrely like all the nerves in my body are on edge.
And since it's really important for me to check the explosive sounds,
my ears at the end are crying out in pain…
In fact, they still hurt. (>_<)
I've probably gotten some new gray hairs, too.

In the midst of all this, I saw The Police perform at Tokyo Dome,
and also went to my buddy CHARLIE's Bonten live.
I'm in music hell (or heaven?) and my ears are definitely protesting…

I've always wanted to see The Police live,
and it was really moving to finally get to do so.
All three of them possess skill and sense beyond their age,
and their singing and playing is utterly amazing.
And especially worth mentioning is the fact that it's been 30 years since
their debut!
When I look back,
the first copy I was in back in middle school was a copy of The Police.
Even though 30 years have passed, they don't seem the least bit old.
Their eternal legacy gives off an intense sparkle.
They totally took over my body and soul with their strong, amazing rock.

CHARLIE's band Bonten was amazing too.
All three members of the guitar trio were great.
SPEACLOUD's sensual funk jams,
Bonten's progressive jam rock,
and Electron-3's noisy free jazz created an image that was right smack
in the middle of my tastes.
My dear friend Kenji Yoshiura's percussion solo was awesome too.
I really need to keep working hard to get better! It was a great performance.

Anyway, these past few weeks have been stuffed full of music.
I finally got a moment to breathe yesterday,
but I have to dive right back into the next thing.
If only I could rest for 2 or 3 days…

このところ、死ぬかと思うくらい忙しかった。
まあ、いつものことなんだけど、超音楽漬け。

SUGIZO名義、Soloとしての久々のレコーデイング及びTD。
LUNA SEA、O.N.D.のDVD映像編集及びTD&MA。
LUNA SEA、コンプリート・ベストの作業。
またそれらのアートワーク、パッケージまわりの制作。
一気に押し寄せてきて三つ巴状態、もう超カオス状態だった。
特にライヴ映像の編集はまさに地獄のような作業でね (^_^;)。
完全に昼夜ひっくり返っちゃうし。
TDの作業は本当に気が狂いそうなほど突き詰めるから、
ずっと体中の全神経が異常な研ぎすまされた状態。
しかも俺の場合、爆音でのチェックがすっげー重要なので
最後は耳が悲鳴上げてるよ。。。
もうマジで耳痛い (>_<)。
これじゃ白髪も増えるよな～。

そんな最中、POLICEのドーム公演観に行ってきたり
くされ縁仲間のCHARLIEの梵天のライヴに行ったりしてるのです。
やっぱり音楽地獄 (天国?)、耳は悲鳴だよな。。。

念願の初生POLICE。感動だったー。
３人とも実年齢を思うと信じられないほどのスキルとセンスだ。
歌のウマさ、プレイの超絶さにヨダレものだった。
しかも節目番長的に大変なのが、
今年はPOLICEデビュー30周年記念！
しかも思い返してみると俺が中学の頃、
初めてコピーしたバンドもPOLICEだったな。。。
30年の時を過ぎても全く古さを微塵も感じさせない楽曲達は、
もはや永遠の遺産、強烈な輝きを放ってたな。
最強に偉大なROCKに身も心も本当にシビれさせてもらったよ。

CHARLIEのバンド、梵天のライヴもよかったぜー。
全３バンド。すべてギタートリオ。
SPEACLOUDは官能ファンクジャム、
梵天はプロフレッシヴ・ジャズロック、
Electron-3は音響系フリージャズ、
そんなイメージの音で、どのバンドも俺の好みド真ん中だった。
盟友よしうらけんじ氏のパーッカッション・ソロもあって
それがまた最高だった。
俺ももっともっと磨き上げなくては！
ホントにいいライヴだったぜー。

とにかく超音楽漬けのここ数週間。
昨日やっと一段落したよ～。
すぐにも次なる作業に突入しなきゃなんないんだけど、
２～３日休みたいなぁ。。。
