Minister King


2008, it’s been exactly forty years since Martin Luther King, Jr. was cut
down by an assassin’s bullet.
Once again, we’re reminded of just how great he was.

I never realized this before, but I’m just about the same age right now that
Minister King was when he died! Wow.
I really admire him in so many different ways.

Forty years later, Obama (who is in his forties) stands an excellent chance
of becoming America’s first black presidential candidate.
Values are being renewed. How wonderful that we’re finally approaching the
society that Minister King dreamed of.

We no longer need meaningless prejudices and barriers.
From the bottom of my heart, I pray that now, in the 21st Century, all races,
peoples, and all life can become one and truly understand each other.

2008年、マーティン・ルーサー・キング・ジュニアが
凶弾に倒れてから４０年。
あらためてキング牧師の偉大さを感じている。

しかも今回、初めて知ったことなんだけど
キング牧師が亡くなった歳と今の俺の歳が
ほとんど同だったなんて！
あらゆる意味で本当に敬服する。

あれから４０年、４０代のオバマ氏が、
黒人初の米大統領候補として爆進中だ。
価値観は、どんどん新しくなっていく。
キング牧師が夢見た社会に、今やっと追いつきつつある。
素晴らしいことだ。

無意味な差別や壁はもういらない。
２１世紀の今、すべての人種が、民族が、命が
ひとつになることを、わかりあえることを心から願う。
