RISE TO COSMIC DANCE


After an insane few weeks, I finally have a brief moment of peace. I've got
two or three days off, which I'm really thankful for after such a hellish
schedule…but it also seems like I'm getting a cold. (>_<)

RISE TO COSMIC DANCE on December 29 was amazing! There were all sorts of
problems, it took a long time to put everything together, there was equipment
trouble, and I have plenty of regrets, but the vibe of the whole thing was
fantastic. Thank you so much, everyone! I poured all of the things I've
experienced, shared, evolved, and been seeking for in the past few years into
the show, and I truly feel that we achieved something sublime. From the
bottom of my heart, I want to convey my gratitude to all of the performers,
to the staff who helped make it happen, and to all the audience members who
came to the show.

All of the performers at this show were people I really wanted to play
together with,and I'm so excited about the birth of this new "family." I've
known guitarist Takumi for a while, and even though he's younger than me,
he's got enormous skill and potential. Then there's FIRE, my close companion
and comrade in arms, and the busiest bassist in all of Japan! I love his
groove and really respect him. Drummer Greg is like a brother to me – I've
played with him for two years now in JUNO REACTOR, and he's truly an amazing,
spectacular rhythm master. K-Ta, on vibraphone and percussion, has been an
essential part of almost all of my projects since 2001. Genius percussionist
Kenji Yoshiura, one of the best in the country, is indispensable to the
groove I've been pursuing for the last two years. Trumpeter Shinpei Ruike has
played with SHAG for the past two years and is a true original. Immensely
talented producer d-kiku has been one of the most important people involved
in both LUNA SEA and my solo work. And finally, singer Origa is someone who
I've wanted to work with forever – I just love her voice and atmosphere.

All of these people are very important to me and have amazing presences.
Getting them together was so wonderful that it could be called a miracle. And
belly dancers Nourah and Sali of Maknatis were also spectacularly beautiful –
 I'm so happy that we finally got to perform together after two years!

I feel very strongly that I'm standing at a new starting line – a large
spiral within my musical life that has stretched on for so long and has
involved a countless number of deaths and rebirths. A new road stretches out
before me. Next year, I want to free myself from the mire of the past few
years and keep running forward…

After the show, Greg and I jumped immediately into recording a new song. Next
week, SHAG is playing for the first time in a while. Then, X JAPAN's
countdown show is on New Year's Eve. I'm giving the last of this year my
everything, and I hope you can all keep up with me! You are all my salvation,
and if you didn't exist, I don't think I would either. I'm so grateful to all
of you, and what I can do in return is to give my whole heart and soul to
making music, to expressing myself. If I can give you all even a little bit
of power, then that's all I ask for. I hope to remain together with you from
now on.

怒濤の数週間をくぐり抜けて
今やっと束の間の安息日の中にいます。
たかだか２～３日のOFFだけど、
ここんとこの地獄絵図の如くのスケジュールの後だけに
超ありがたい。。。というか、風邪引きそう (>_<)。

12/19、RISE TO COSMIC DANCE、
最高でした。
まあ、いろいろ問題はあったし、時間もなかったし、
機材もトラブったし、悔いはかなり残ってはいるけども、
バイブは最高でした。
みんな本当にどうもありがとう＆お疲れさまでした！

ここ数年の俺の体験してきたこと、発信し続けてきたこと、
進化してきたこと、そして求めてきたこと、
すべてが今回のGIGに流れ込んで結実し、昇華された。
そんな実感が強烈にあるな。
参加してくれたメンバー、共にあの場を作り上げてくれたスタッフ、
集まってくれたオーディエンス、すべての存在に心から感謝してる。

メンバーのみんなは、全員が俺が本当に共演したかった人達。
新しいファミリーの誕生にメチャ興奮してるよ。
以前から何かと交流があった、俺の一回り年下ながら
抜群のスキルとキャパシティをもった、Guitarの巧くん。
俺の大切な同士、戦友であり俺が惚れ込んだグルーヴの持ち主、
日本一忙しいベーシスト、大リスペクトなFIRE。
JUNO REACTORとしてこの２年間活動を共にしている、
最高、最強のリズムマスターで、もはや兄弟のようなDr.のGreg。
2001年より、俺の殆どのプロジェクトに関わってくれている
重要な存在、ビブラフォン＆パーカッションのK-Ta。
この２年ほど、俺が本当に求めるグルーヴには欠かせない、
日本屈指の最強鬼才パーカッショニスト、よしうらけんじ氏。
やはりこの２年ほど、主にSHAGとして共にプレイしてきた、
俺が探し求めていた希有な存在、トランぺッター類家心平氏。
LUNA SEAに関しても、俺のSOLOに関しても、
長い間最重要人物のひとりである鬼才プログラマー、d-kiku氏。
そしてここ数年感、俺の最も愛する声と感覚の持ち主であり、
ずっと共演することを願い続けてきたロシア人シンガー、Origa。

全員が本当に俺が求めてきた存在。最高の存在。
このメンツが集まったことが奇跡的とも言えるほど
素晴らしいことだと思ってる。

そしてベリーダンサー、Maknatisのお二人、
NourahさんとSaliさん。
２年越しに共演が実現して嬉しかったー。
やはり最高なお二人。美しいお二人。

今回、幾度も輪廻を繰り返してきた
決して短くない俺の音楽生活の中で、
大きな螺旋を描いて新たなスタートラインに立ったんだと
強烈に感じている。
ここから俺の新しい道が始まる。
来年、ここ数年のぬかるみから脱却して、攻めまくりたい。

LIVE終了後、間一髪おかずGregと共に新曲のレコーディング。
来週は久々のSHAGのGIG。
大晦日はX JAPANのカウント・ダウンGIG。
今年のラスト・スパート、全力でいくよ。
みんな、スピードに振り切られずについてきてー。

みんなの存在に俺はいつも救われている。
みんながいなかったら俺はここにはもう存在していなかっただろう。
みんなに心から感謝している。
俺ができることは全身全霊で音楽すること。表現すること。
俺の存在がほんの少しでもみんなの力の源になれるのであれば、
こんなに本望なことはない。
だからこれからも、ずっと一緒にいたい。
