我是用Winedt打論文
我的習慣是開一個GSview看著ps檔 (半成品)
想看打得怎麼樣，就ctrl+shift+L (compile) 一般會compile兩次
再ctrl+shift+D (dvi2ps)
GSview那個視窗就自動會變成更新的狀態，就可以當做預覽了
最後通通沒問題，我才會ps2pdf，然後印出來看

我也覺得用 GSview 的自動重新載入新檔案的功能還不錯，
雖然也算是全部重新編編完才看得到結果。
我記得是有改變 Figure、 Theorem、 reference 項目等等
那些編號時才需要編譯兩次，如果只是修改文字內容、或圖
形內容的話，應該編譯一次就能產生正確結果的。

Andrew S. Tanenbaum's FAQ 有提到兩件事 ...
What typesetting system do you use?
All my typesetting is done using troff.
I don't have any need to see what the output will look like.
I am quite convinced that troff will follow my instructions dutifully.
If I give it the macro to insert a second-level heading,
it will do that in the correct font and size, with the correct spacing,
adding extra space to align facing pages down to the pixel if need be.
Why should I worry about that? WYSIWYG is a step backwards.
Human labor is used to do that which the computer can do better.
Also, using troff means that the text is in ASCII,
and I have a bunch of shell scripts that operate
on files (whole chapters) to do things like produce a histogram
by year of all the references.
That would be much harder and slower if the text were
kept in some manufacturer's proprietary format.
What's wrong with LaTeX?
Nothing, but real authors use troff.

原 po 可以考慮裝個 TeXMaker 內建有 QuickBuild 的功能
按個鍵一口氣重新弄好所有動作
也是不錯的選擇 :)

如果你用emacs的話我建議用auctex+preview
讓你可以邊打邊看。
我是忠實的vi用戶，加個vim-latex我就覺得了。
anyway，要preview的話應該用dvi，ps/pdf做最後成品就好。
要WYSIWYG的話（not real man's solution，哈哈），lyx？
最近還發現openoffice可以export tex，但沒有試用。
對我來說，有latex以後，spreadshet是保留辦工室軟體的唯一原因了。

首先 感謝大家的熱心回答
Andrew S. Tanenbaum 是我敬佩的人物 但這段話其實看不大懂..
我知道dvi
我正在用的就是TeXMaker
QuickBuild指令為
cwtex %|latex -interaction=nonstopmode %|dvipdfmx %
覺得TeXMaker + cwtex有點慢
所以我處理非中文的tex檔時 用TeXMaker的 LaTex + View dvi
需要處理中文時則用 Crimson editor + cwtex
很多人稱讚WinEdt
但由於我是自由軟體的支持者 而且將來希望能轉到Linux去
所以選用TeXMaker
TeXMaker大抵能滿足我的需求 也不大需要背指令 按按鈕就有了
可惜我在打數學式子的同時 一邊在推導證明
一邊還要想像 這一堆指令打出來的數學式子到底是啥 有點吃力
OppenOffice Math是即時preview 你不用再多按按鍵去產生dvi
預覽圖就跑出來了 所以我猜想LaTex是否也有同樣的功能
目前的作法是 寫一行數學式子 就按一次dvi..
我會試試
emacs的auctex+preview、
vi的vim-latex、
與lyx
學LaTex的動機 除了數學式子漂亮之外
我覺得投影片的效果也很好 正在學習中
LaTex版的版友 水準氣質都比較高
果然技術門檻會篩選出不同程度的使用者

或許你需要的是 Word 這類的軟體吧
基本上 LaTeX 能給你的是不需要時時觀看成果
又能給你一份品質好的文件
這就是 Tanenbaum 所說的
使用任何指令都能順利產生想要的成果
其它的...我就不多說了 :)
