MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Derek Fisher swished a short jump shot to get the Lakers
pointed in the right direction in the early moments Tuesday night.

tone en route to a comprehensive 117-101 victory over the Memphis Grizzles in

The Lakers led from start to finish for the fourth time this season. They
also improved to 8-0 when all five starters score 10 or more points.

purpose," Memphis coach Marc Iavaroni said of the Lakers. "They outclassed us
in most areas."

The Lakers' intensity and efficiency ebbed and flowed at times. They built a

They never panicked or showed any sign of weakness, however. They made shots

Fisher also can score as evidenced by his 13 points during the Lakers'
39-point first quarter. He made his first five shots before he was credited
with his first miss. By then the Lakers were off and running toward their
13th win in the past 16 games.

"We've been doing a better job in first-quarter play," Fisher said. "Earlier
in the season, we struggled in the first quarter and it was our bench that

87-71 after three quarters. Their largest lead was a 57-31 advantage after

The rest of the game was a mere formality, although the Grizzlies trimmed the

"Every time they managed to cut into our lead a little bit, we managed to
