Roddick wins his match against Acasuso
The 19 year-old Andy Roddick got the better end in the "new generation" match
against the also 19 year-old Argentinean Jose Acasuso.
Roddick, who celebrated his first tournament victories on clay court in the
spring of 2001 in Houston and Atlanta, made the big points and won after 1 1/2
hours with 6:3, 6:2. Acasuso came as a substitute on the Argentinean wild card
team, replacing Juan Ignacio Chela who injured his knee. Roddick, on the other
hand, has been well established in the US team since last year. This was their
first direct encounter.
