from ATP Feb. 11, 2003 Rios Rolls into Second Round Chilean claims first win of 2003. Playing in his first tournament of the year, third seed Marcelo Rios advanced to the second round of the Bellsouth Open by Rosen with a 6-3, 6-2 win over fellow Chilean and wild card entrant Adrian Garcia. Rios, a three-time finalist in the event, next plays Spanish clay court specialist Albert Portas, who struggled to beat Czech qualifier Frantisek Cermak, who was playing just his second career main draw ATP match, 7-5, 1-6, 7-5. Rios is looking for his first title since Hong Kong in 2001. Chilean wild card Hermes Gamonal captured his second career ATP match win when he upset Spaniard Jacobo Diaz 7-5, 5-7, 6-3. Coming into the tournament at No. 253 in the ATP Entry Rankings, Gamonal had won just one match at Challenger level this year. Gamonal next plays top seed Gaston Gaudio, who handed Nicolas Massu a three- set defeat in his comeback match 6-0, 2-6, 6-1. WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID Rios: "I have a feeling I'm going to win the tournament. I know it's early but I have this feeling. Normally I play at night here but I played at 4:00 PM today and the conditions were good. I would love to win in Chile, because I've never won here." Gamonal: "It's tough to play a guy like Diaz because of his type of game. I was very confident after playing Davis Cup last week." Vicente: "I love to play in Vina. I come every year. Hopefully I can improve my results here even though they haven't been too bad in the past." -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 218.165.185.209
