Argentina's Coria to make Davis Cup debut against Spain
BUENOS AIRES, Aug 21 (Reuters) - In-form Argentine Guillermo Coria will make his Davis Cup debut in the semi-final against Spain in Malaga next month after being named in the team on Thursday.
Coria, seeded fifth for next week's U.S. Open, has been in brilliant form this season, winning four titles -- the Hamburg Masters Series, Stuttgart, Kitzbuehel and Sopot -- and reaching the French Open semi-finals.
He will join Gaston Gaudio, David Nalbandian and Agustin Calleri in captain Gustavo Luza's team, an Argentine Tennis Association (AAT) spokesman told Reuters.
Argentina meet 2000 winners Spain in Malaga from September 19 to 21 with Coria and Gaudio the likely singles players and Nalbandian and Calleri the doubles pairing.
Coria and Calleri, last picked more than two years ago, are in for Mariano Zabaleta and Lucas Arnold, who helped the team reach their second consecutive semi-final with a 5-0 win over holders Russia in their quarter-final in Buenos Aires in April.
Spain have named Juan Carlos Ferrero and Carlos Moya as their singles players and Albert Costa and Alex Corretja for the doubles.
Australia host Switzerland in the other semi-final.
