Bjorkman真的很拼,不簡單! 恭喜瑞典晉級八強,將主場出戰澳洲。 http://www.daviscup.org/news/matchreport.asp?id=12312 09 Feb 2003, DC 官網 Marathon Man Bjorkman takes it to a fifth rubber Jonas Bjorkman has kept Sweden in its Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round tie with Brazil by defeating Gustavo Kuerten 64 64 46 46 61 to force a decisive fifth rubber. The odds were not in favour of Bjorkman. At almost 31 years of age, Sweden's No.1 player - who had already played 10 sets over two days - was undoubtedly the underdog against Kuerten, who had been impressive on both Friday and Saturday. But Bjorkman showed once again that Davis Cup definitely brought out the best in him. And although Kuerten rallied back from two sets down to make it 2-2 all, adrenaline made the difference for the Swede who breezed through the final set, his 15th of the weekend, to take the match. Extremely aggressive from the beginning, "Bjosse" set the tempo by putting a lot of pressure on Kuerten's serve, stepping into the court as often as possible. Although Kuerten was the first one who found himself with break points (two in the first set and one in the second) Bjorkman was the one who ended up making the difference scoring decisive breaks in the tenth game of both sets to take a comfortable lead. Visibly by his captain Mats Wilander and the whole Swedish gang which today included Stefan Edberg, Anders Jarryd and Carl-Axel Hageskog, and an enthusiastic crowd, Bjorkman looked on his way to sensational upset. But the tempo changed sides when in the ninth game of the third set a winning return from "Guga" gave him his fourth break point of the match. This time, the Brazilian didn't blow it. A great return at Bjorkman's feet followed by a sensational forehand passing shot down the line gave him his first break of the match. From then on, playing with renewed inspiration , Kuerten went on to win the set, and then again the fourth thanks to yet another break of serve. Bjorkman was seemingly feeling the weight of the many sets played so far whereas Kuerten was now more than ever the favourite to win the match. But "Bjosse" hadn't said his last word. He came out firing from the start of the fifth set, taking the ball even earlier and attacking Kuerten's serve to force the Brazilian into making mistakes. To everyone's surprise, Bjorkman went on to take a 4-0 lead, after coming back from 0-40 down in the third game. And although Kuerten kept fighting to get a break back in the fifth game, he couldn't reverse the situation against Bjorkman who sealed the match 61 with a winning crosscourt backhand. "My best memories in Davis Cup are still of course the three times I was part of the team that won the Cup, but this victory is maybe the most satisfying match I have played in this competition" said Bjorkman. Now, Sweden is one step closer to once again reversing a very difficult situation in Davis Cup. In the deciding fifth rubber Andreas Vinciguerra will play Flavio Saretta, a late replacement for Andre Sa. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 218.165.183.107 ※ 編輯: esnique 來自: 218.165.183.107 (02/10 17:15)
