Calleri Wins First ATP Title Argentina's Agustin Calleri won his first ATP title on Saturday by defeating countryman Mariano Zabaleta in the finals of the Abierto Mexicano de Tenis Telefonica Movistar in Acapulco. Calleri, a 26-year-old who resides in Buenos Aires, captured his first singles crown with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 win in Mexico. Calleri, playing in Acapulco for the first time, did not drop a set before reaching the final. He defeated countryman and No. 3 seed Gaston Gaudio in the second round and No. 7 Marcelo Rios in the quarterfinals before blowing past Felix Mantilla in the semifinals. The Argentine is now 1-1 in ATP finals, after losing to Nicolas Massu in the 2002 Buenos Aires final. Zabaleta, who turned 25 on Friday, falls to 1-4 in ATP finals. His lone ATP title came in 1998 when he won the Bogota title. Zabaleta is 10-5 on the year and was playing in his first final since reaching the Amsterdam championship in 1999.
