Alanis Honored With Silicon CD Award
By now, most music fans are well aware that
Alanis Morissette's 1995 album, "Jagged Little
Pill," has sold millions and millions of copies
worldwide. It's also been downloaded quite a
few times as well, and for that she was
awarded a Silicon CD Award by CD Database
on Sunday night.
Morissette was presented with the award
before performing to a sold-out crowd at the
Irving Meadows Amphitheater in Los Angeles.
Artists are certified silicon if they appear on the
CD Database Digital Top 10, a chart which
ranks the most frequently downloaded albums
worldwide, for at least thirty days. Other artists
who have received the Silicon Award include
Korn and Britney Spears.
Her popularity on the Internet ensured,
Morissette, who finished up a tour with Tori
Amos earlier this week, will soon be appearing
on the silver screen, playing the role of God in
Kevin Smith's upcoming film, "Dogma," slated
to hit theaters on November 12 (see
"Morissette Records Song For 'Dogma,'
Talks About Being God").
