Morissette to release acoustic material
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Maverick Records will release an Alanis
Morissette acoustic set Nov. 16. Selections will be culled from an
episode of the MTV performance series "Unplugged" which the artist
recently taped at the Brooklyn, N.Y. Academy of Music. Although label
representatives were unwilling to confirm the album's track listing,
sources say the set will include such hits as "Hand In My Pocket,"
"Ironic," "You Oughta Know," and "Uninvited." A cover of the classic
Police tune "King Of Pain" might also make the album, as well as a
version of "That I Would Be Good," which is tentatively slated to be
released as a single in early November. Morissette's "Unplugged"
episode is scheduled to appear Nov. 1 on MTV.
Currently, the Canadian artist is touring Australia and Southeast
Asia in support of her most recent album, "Supposed Former
Infatuation Junkie." She also will be visible this fall in Kevin
Smith's "Dogma," a film about Catholicism that is scheduled to hit
U.S. theaters Nov. 12. The movie's soundtrack, to which Morissette
contributes a new tune, "Still," will be issued Nov. 2 by Maverick.
