Bonnie Raitt Covers David Gray
"Silver Lining" Raitt's first album in four years
Bonnie Raitt will release Silver Lining, her sixteenth album, on
April 9th. The album's title track is a David Gray cover; his
version appears on his White Ladder album (1999). Raitt also
recorded two tracks by the songwriting team Tommy Sims, Gordon
Kennedy and Wayne Kirkpatrick, who wrote Eric Clapton's hit
"Change the World."
Raitt co-produced the record with Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake,
who also produced her last effort, 1998's Fundamental. Silver
Lining's first single, "I Can't Help You Now," will be released
prior to the album, and Raitt and her band -- guitarist George
Marinelli, bassist James "Hutch" Hutchinson, drummer Ricky Fataar
and newcomer keyboardist John Clearly (who wrote two tracks) --
plan to tour in the spring. "This is, above all, a band record,"
Raitt writes in the liner notes. "A lot of what makes it so
special is the trench we've dug out on the road . . . deep and
wide."

gender is just an excuse, relationship shouldn't just be an excuse,
love is often an excuse, although sometimes these excuses are all
we have to hold onto,
death is the reason and living is the celebration
