Cibo Matto Gear Stolen
A rental truck filled with equipment
belonging to arty New York pop band Cibo
Matto was stolen in Brooklyn, N.Y., Friday
night (Aug. 6) or Saturday morning, a
representative of their management
company said. It was the third reported
theft of truckloads of equipment from New
York art-rock bands in a month. In July,
thieves in Orange, Calif., and Vancouver,
British Columbia, stole trucks filled with
customized and vintage equipment from
Sonic Youth and the Jon Spencer Blues
Explosion, respectively. Cibo Matto lost
two basses, two guitars, two keyboards, a
sampler, a drum kit, a vintage Roland drum
machine and other gear in the theft,
according to Rod Marsden of Manage This.
Marsden said Cibo Matto will perform in
Washington, D.C., Tuesday using new,
rented and borrowed equipment.
