不知道大家對這個團有什麼印象,
是五個美女組成的 Punk-Pop 團,
不過她們只發過三張專輯就因為團員不合而在 1985 年解散。
Go Go's Drummer Discusses Reunion
It was 1985 when the Go Go's decided
they no longer had the beat. Now, with
the millennium coming to a close,
the original Spice Girls have reunited,
and drummer Gina Schock 霠whose
lips are no longer sealed 霠says things are like
they were in the beginning.
"I think everyone has better communication skills
this time around," Schock tells Wall of Sound.
"We're able to discuss things. There's no arguing
or screaming or carrying on. All the old s--- that
used to rear its ugly head when we got together
霠now we discuss it. It's out in the open, and it's
not an issue anymore."
The reunion tour, which kicks off July 3 at the
Pier in Seattle, Wash., was spawned when the
band members were approached last year by Ted
and Amanda Demme, who were interested in
putting together a Go Go's film. "Everybody
started talking, and that started the ball rolling,"
says Schock. "We got together and started
having weekly meetings, and then Miles
Copeland approached us about doing some
shows, and it sounded like it would be fun. Not
everyone got along at first, but we all get along
real well right now. We've all really grown up, I
guess. I look forward to rehearsing with them
every day because all we do is laugh. It's more
like it was 20 years ago. It's about doing what we
do best when the five of us are together, which is,
of course, to play Go-Go's stuff."
The film is still in the works, though it's a slow
process, says Schock, but she and the rest of
the band are enjoying it. "It's just not going to be
like any other film about a band," she says. "We
want to make it different, and that's why Ted and
Amanda are involved. They're so f---ing cool.
They're just so smart and cutting-edge, and they
get us. We're going to be involved, creatively,
every step of the way, and they're cool with that."
Schock adds that a Go Go's tell-all book is also
in the works, which will be substantially different
from the movie. "The book will be the nitty-gritty. I
think we'll talk about a lot of stuff we haven't
talked about."
Of course, now that they're all bosom buddies
once again, the natural question is whether or not
the Go Go's will return to the studio. Anything's
possible, says Schock. "Just speaking for
myself, I'd love that to happen. I certainly have a
wealth of material, and I know everyone else
does, too. But I don't want to say 'Yeah, we're
going to make a record,' because then if it
doesn't happen, I sound like an idiot. But I'd love
to see that happen, and I think everyone feels
pretty much the same way."
