Joni Mitchell orchestral album out in 2000
(Launch) - Joni Mitchell will release her next album, the
orchestra-accompanied "Both Sides Now," in two different
configurations next year. On Feb. 8, Mitchell will release a
limited-edition package featuring special artwork designed by the
singer-songwriter, who is also a painter of some note. The standard
edition of the album will follow on March 21. Produced by Mitchell's
ex-husband and bassist Larry Klein, "Both Sides Now" was inspired by
the singer's participation in the "Stormy Weather" concert in Los
Angeles to benefit Don Henley's Walden Woods Foundation. Mitchell
participated with numerous other singers, including Stevie Nicks,
Sheryl Crow and Natalie Cole. Invigorated by the experience, Mitchell
and Klein hit Sir George Martin's Air Studios in England with a full
orchestra to record a dozen pop standards, as well as a new version
of the title track - one of Mitchell's best-known songs, although it
was actually a hit for Judy Collins. Mitchell is expected to play
select live dates in support of the album.
