Luscious Jackson calls it quits
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Alternative pop group Luscious Jackson has
split up amicably after four studio albums for Grand Royal/Capitol.
The group's members - Jill Cunniff, Gabby Glaser and Kate
Schellenbach - will begin working on a variety of new projects,
including collaborating with other artists and recording material for
soundtracks. "We want to let our fans know that we are still good
friends," Cunniff said in a statement. "We all want to diversify what
we do individually and the band just came to its natural conclusion.
It's been a great eight years and we hope to work together again in
the future." "We want to thank our fans for their amazing support
over the years," added Schellenbach, "as well as the people who
supported and worked for us and with us personally and professionally
all this time."
Original member Vivian Trimble left Luscious Jackson in April 1998 to
pursue other projects. In 1996, she and Cunniff released the Grand
Royal album "Klassics With A K" under the name Kostars. Dusty Trails,
Trimble's new group with former Breeders bassist Josephine Wiggs,
will release its self-titled debut album May 9 on Atlantic. As
recently as this month, the band played U.S. tour dates with Smash
Mouth in support of its fourth album, "Electric Honey," which peaked
at No. 102 on The Billboard 200.
