Sarah McLachlan Offers Custom CD; Court Dates Set
Fans putting an order in for Sarah McLachlan's new live album
"Mirrorball" are being given the opportunity to create their own
custom CDs.
Buyers can chose four of eight available tracks, make up their own title, and
pick from three versions of cover art. According to the Nettwerk Records
Web site, the available tracks include b-sides, remixes, and songs that have
only appeared on soundtracks and compilations, as well as unreleased live
tracks from the "Mirrorball" sessions.
The fans have until July 1 to get in on the promotion, which is being staged in
conjunction with specific online retailers. Online customers will be
issued a password and the URL of a Web site where they can explore and
pick their options. They'll still have to pay shipping and handling charges of
approximately $4-5.
"Mirrorball" is a collection of 14 live tracks recorded during McLachlan's
1998 tour, drawing primarily from her last two studio albums, 1994's
"Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" and 1997's "Surfacing."
Meanwhile, it doesn't appear that McLachlan will be able to put her
protracted legal woes behind her anytime soon. The singer is being sued
by former musical associate Darryl Neurdorf for money and credit
involving her early material, and the court case has already lasted weeks
(and weeks). Now the twice-bumped closing arguments have been
re-scheduled for June 9-11 and June 28-30 (see "Sarah McLachlan Trial
To Resume In February, Benefit Appearance Confirmed").
