Sarah McLachlan Sounds Off On The Significance Of Lilith Fair
The third and final Lilith Fair will come to an end
in Canada next week, leaving tour founder and
headliner Sarah McLachlan 阠at last 阠with
some spare time in which to write new songs,
and maybe have more of a life.
But the Lilith project, as she told MTV's Chris
Connelly earlier this week, has definitely been
worthwhile in helping to break down musical
style barriers. "If there's one thing that this
has sort of reinstilled my faith in, is the
power of the listening audience and how
much the industry has underestimated
them," McLachlan said.
"You know, with all the new radio formats that
open up, they're still very pigeon-holing, and
they'll play one genre of music, and I think one of
the greatest successes of this tour is that you
can have all different kinds of music on one
night, and everybody's there to listen to
everything, and they really appreciate and
respect every artist, and I think that's a
really important thing to recognize."
