歌中的 Luka 很明顯的看得出來是處於被虐待的情況下，
Suzanne Vega 說這首歌是有關一個被虐待的小孩，
她用輕快的編曲來代表小孩子純真的口吻，
他拒絕承認並合理化發生在他身上的事情，
並且希望看到他臉上青腫的鄰居別來一探究竟。
這歌引起許多人的揣測，因為描述得實在太真實了，
Suzanne Vega 說，她家樓上是真的有個小孩叫做 Luka，
但是據她所知，他並沒有被虐待，他只是一個假託的人。
Suzanne Vega 也講到這首歌的寫作技巧，
她說一開始你用『我的名字叫 Luka，住在二樓』來介紹他，
