VH1 to release 'Storytellers' set
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Tracks by
David Bowie ("China Girl"),
Elvis Costello ("Just a Memory"),
John Mellencamp ("Jack & Diane") and
James Taylor ("Mexico") are among those featured on "VH1
Storytellers," a compilation of songs recorded for the TV series. It
will be released April 25. Other artists included on the album are
the Pretenders ("Back On The Chain Gang"),
Counting Crows ("Rain King"),
Jewel ("Who Will Save Your Soul"),
Lisa Loeb ("Stay"),
Blues Traveler frontman John Popper ("Regarding Steven"),
Eurythmics ("Here Comes The Rain Again"),
the Bee Gees ("How Deep Is Your Love"),
Natalie Merchant ("Carnival"),
Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds ("Crash"),
Stevie Nicks ("Edge of Seventeen"), and a duet between
Nicks and Sheryl Crow on the latter's "Strong Enough."
Proceeds from the sale of the CD will benefit City of Hope, a
research and treatment center for cancer and other deadly diseases.
The fifth season of "Storytellers" kicked off with a performance from
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and will feature sessions from Pete
Townshend, Don Henley and Steely Dan.
